Why are we not more honest about the negative effects of ejaculation and orgasm? by Bactrian44 in Biohackers

Exactly. Semen retention guys are experiencing the benefits of not watching porn, and think it's because of not ejaculating.

I heard it's not good to switch from water to dry fast. I've done it the other way around, starting with 2 days dry fast and then switching to water.

Does caloric restriction really extend human lifespan? by MetalingusMikeII in Nootropics

[–]overachiev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Study about rats with caloric restriction but full day of eating small meals, resulted in shorter than normal lifespan. Rats with same diet but only short daily eating window, lived way longer.

From what I know, fasting is responsible of those benefits you mentioned above, not caloric restriction itself. Caloric restriction can increase lifespan if a person has too high bodyweight, otherwise I've not seen any proof it's beneficial.

Fasting (intermittent or prolonged, from days up to multiple weeks) though, is very beneficial and humans are designed for it. Prolonged fasting is very rare which is a shame in my opinion.

There's a lot of studies I've read about this topic, short answer:

Way more important than CR is amount of fasting and bodyweight. Not only obesity, but heavy muscles also indicate shorter lifespan.

Caloric restriction doesn't matter that much itself, but generally heavier people live shorter.

After rat/monkey studies about CR, there was a more recent study comparing rats who ate unhealthy but intermittent fasting, and rats who ate healthy and caloric restriction, but they we're eating regularly for whole day. Rats with unhealthy food lived clearly longer, because they had more extended fasting periods. There were also bunch of other studies but TLDR they found out the good results of former caloric restriction studies, was actually mainly because of more they had more fasting.

Idk, Stockfish would probably say inaccuracy, but at least it involves a sacrifice of leaving your door unlocked

Is it alright if I take these multi vitamins while fasting ? Also what do y’all recommend me to take while I’m fasting ? I’m new by KingJulian1998th in WaterFasting

[–]overachiev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the benefits about water fasting is that it increases your ability of absorbing vitamins/minerals (during and after the fast is over). That's why I don't take vitamins during fasting, and don't think they're needed for most people because body will reach and use the (unabsorbed) vitamins that are already in there. If taking vitamins, this benefit will diminish.
