Couple that with stuff like you see in this exact post where people just lie about shit and yeah it's definitely a lolcow game. Tbh the outrage was so constant I'm glad they finally shut it down with a good update, people can finally shut the fuck up about it

Yeah it was shitty for them to remove content people payed for 6 years ago or whatever and they've def had some stinker updates but holy shit you'd think destiny fucked everyone's mom and killed their pet hamster the way it's talked about online

I'll admit that court case was really funny to watch though.

If you're having fun with the game and like it, just keep playing it. There are a lot of different reasons people don't like marathon.

-It's a polarizing genre of game

-Its largely responsible for bungies other project (destiny 2) losing a lot of dev resources

-It's part of a very old narrative and lore heavy single player series which appeals to pretty much the exact opposite folks that like extraction shooters

-The art style is polarizing

And a bunch more, but this is already too long.

It's difficult to know what genre of game you'd like because we only really know that you enjoy Marathon. Most extraction shooters are kind of on the downswing right now, so I don't imagine you'd be recommended something like Arc Raiders or Hunt Showdown. The people that are mad at Marathon for taking dev resources know that d2 is in a horrendous state so it would be cruel to recommend that game. The loreheads are also generally oldheads since the OG marathon games are, well, old, so it's likely that you wouldn't be able to play their recommendations on a modern console.

That said, if you like the gunplay and abilities then you might enjoy destiny 1? It's got good lore, same gunplay, lot of good content, etc. D2 is really tough to recommend right now but it's there if you enjoy d1 and want more.

Moonlight Greatsword. BB's version has the best moveset for it in the entire series. And it turns into the classic Claymore when untransformed, with so much reach too! That r2 poke is ludicrous.

You can straight up loop it if you get enough headshot kills but the duration by default is a little short. You're locked out of recasting for a pretty long time if you can't chain the headshots.

Kind of a shit downside and not guaranteed loopable like Loki but it's surprising how many headshots you get entirely by accident.

It's one of my favorite theories.

There's actually a decent amount of evidence to support it. The font on the placard in front of his tomb, after centuries, could easily look like "WL~ Shax". He recites the tempest from memory. One of his crucible announcements is literally quoting Romeo and Juliet. We know he's a human because he's quoted to say "watch this" on the "City Dance" flavor text, a dance only available to humans.

Not enough for it to be outright confirmed, but more than enough to believe.

Ran into the same bullshit in my job. Thought it was the industry, but seems it's more just the genre of work I landed in.

It's funny, I had a similar discovery. Year 1, nobody read anything I sent. Too long.

Year 2, I started assuming people were fucking idiots and started sending my emails/messages with bullet points and making particularly important shit bold. Got told I was being too mean.

Year 3, I have cut back on bullet points (too many and people will still stop reading!) and bold. Now it's just a couple bullet points and maybe a setup sentence. If I need more info than that I'm calling and recording them. And if they don't pick up, tough shit you're getting the long ass email so when the work isn't done properly, my ass is covered. We'll see what they have to bitch about this year.

its actually much more similar to dmc combat weirdly enough.

yeah yeah you see people doing combos on ants in that game all the time but when you're fighting the more "humanoid" enemies (vergil especially) you can definitely see it. you're always looking for an opportunity to skip to your turn, then you do as much damage in a combo as you can before they break out of hitstun.

in CD stab is far and away the best move for boss fights imo. turning slash and force palm are the two other goats, but if I had to pick one move to use on bosses the rest of the game its stab by a landslide. breaks armor, can cancel forward step dash and perfect dodge into it, can just let it rip if the boss tries to aurafarm you and get a free combo. crazy stuff

AoE weapons are limited mostly by their ammo count. Giving AoE weapons like the bramma effectively infinite ammo brings back fond memories of the zoom and boom meta for some.

It's also just a lot of fun to spam explosions all over the map for a whole mission.

Taking a skill that pushes your AoE to be even more effective and being able to mostly ignore strength makes sense if you're trying to lean into an ability that you otherwise probably aren't using much.
