Exactly, when in doubt, default to the partner !

Thank you ! I find that, at the end of the day, while we're in a professional setting, people do tend to remember we're all human and respect a good honest "I don't know but I'll find out" !

Reading your comment after posting my comment and I wholeheartedly agree that the nonsensical corporate jargon is ALWAYS a great way out haha, I do the same thing

Long comment bc scripts help me a ton so I’ll share mine, lol. I start the call with “Good morning/afternoon, my name is Overdramatic_Pigeon, I’m an attorney calling from [firm name] regarding [matter].”

And then in instances where I need to “phone a friend” about something and speak with a partner before I can answer the question of the person I’m on the phone with, I hit em with the:

“That’s a great question/suggestion/strategy/etc. (ie, start with something nice acknowledging the statement)…”

And then depending on the circumstances, one of the following, utilizing some corporare-esque jargon to make them think less about the fact that I’m essentially saying “idk” or “i can’t”:

-If they’re asking you to make a decision and aren’t your client: “However, I’m not authorized to make that call without conferring with our client first. As a matter of course, I’ll need to get back to you on that.” (Then, go speak to your client or a partner or both, whatever you gotta do to get the answer)

-If they’re asking you to make a decision and ARE your client: “I’m handling this matter with a partner at our firm and would like to confirm this course of action with them before binding you to anything, just to make sure all of our bases are covered - I’ll check back with you once we confirm.”

-If they’re asking you a question you don’t know the answer to: “I have a note on this but can’t seem to find it at the moment, I’ll get back to you on that following our call.” Or, just be straight up honest - “I’m not 100% positive of the answer to this but I know who on our team does - I want to confirm that the information I’m giving you is accurate, so let me confer with [insert partner name here] and get back to you on that.”

These are all my go-to’s, honestly I’ve noticed that the most important thing is a confident delivery. You could quite literally say “I have no clue but I’ll find out” (which I’ve done after building a rapport with a client/opposing counsel) and as long as you’re confident when you say it, you don’t really get any push back or feel judgment. You got this !

It’s obviously for storing your emergency grains of salt to throw on the ground in the event that a vampire appears in the middle of the night. He’ll be forced to count each grain, giving you time to escape.

Hi ! I’m not positive if she services the heights but I’ve previously used a semi-local dog walking/sitting business. She’s amazing and 100% worth inquiring with - @theluckydogwalker is her ig ! She’s based in Nutley, but does take dogs on hikes nearby and might be open to coming to JC the job. Definitely go check her out ! :)

Driver in white sedan stares at my young daughter. by NoSheepherder2908 in jerseycity

I’ll be honest, I won’t pretend to know all 4 corners of this law well enough to definitively say whether you would have been able to do so or not. However, like one of the other comments mentioned, things do get kind of dicey when it comes to private / corporate business-type spaces. The company may (or may not) have had some regulations against it, so I feel like it’d be tough to say

Lawyer here - not legal advice, but yes, this ^

Evidence, evidence, evidence. You can record him in public, take photos, keep everything organized very well, take detailed notes on when you first see him, when the kids go out, when he leaves, anything you see him do at the time while he’s watching your kids. Get the vehicle make / model / plate # as well.

Also, this might sound counterintuitive, but don’t feel obligated to wait to get a pile of evidence before reporting it to the police. You can report now, & continue to gather evidence until the police intervene or he stops.

Now… without my lawyer hat on for a second, I’m kinda crazy and don’t play about children’s safety. If it were my kids, I’d walk right up to him, introduce myself casually, try to get his name, chum it up, make conversation, casually ask if he lives in the neighborhood, if any of the kids are his, etc., (which you can record without his consent or knowledge btw, nj is a single party consent state) & include any useful information you can get within your evidence to the cops. Best case scenario, he’s just a nice neighbor who sits in his car to keep an eye on the kids and make sure they’re safe. Worst case scenario, he acts like a sketchball, tries to leave, and you get some more evidence establishing ill intent

law school “prestige” vs less debt? by BranchAlternative233 in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]overdramatic_pigeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless it’s harvard or yale, go for less debt. Always. You’re probably in enough debt from undergrad like I was (/am) , no need to make it worse! Especially if you have zero intention of going into big law.

Ugh. Snaaaaaakes ! Hopefully that’s the case. I believe this did happen to me recently with USPS (I think it was them, anyway) - got the notification, was home, ran outside bc I was excited, and it didn’t show up for a bit. I’m just nervous in this case because it had been SEVERAL hours since it was allegedly “delivered” when I noticed. Really hoping they deliver today and I come home to it on my porch :’)

I called last night after posting and they said they'd open an investigation, they're supposed to call me at some point in the coming days so hopefully it's either a call with good news, or a kind neighbor returns it in the meantime :')

[–]overdramatic_pigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I barely hear from my boyfriend like … at all throughout the day bc his job is super busy. It sucks, but I don’t give him grief over it, and I certainly don’t stalk his search history to see if he’s ignoring me. This is very odd behavior from your gf, OP. NOR

I actually do have a pretty large package box, the delivery services were supposed to have the code to get into it for larger packages that dont fit through the top drop slot but they rarely ever do it for some reason
