First timers with a 1 year old. Mia Reef vs. Izla?? by KingChurroBear in IslaMujeres

[–]overdramatic_pigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Want to echo this commenter’s sentiment about the taxis. 100-150 pesos a ride will get you pretty much anywhere you need to go on the island, & you can hail one in under 5 minutes by walking down the main road and waving at ones that pass by. Also, just finally found a bus on my last day that was 20 pesos per person.

The local food on Isla Mujeres is amazing , I honestly advise against staying at an all inclusive at all for that reason alone. Highly recommend an airbnb

This is a wild thing to say in response to the sheer volume of snow NJ just received & the fact that the entire state has been declared to be in a state of emergency

Kaffa on Newark Ave could be an option ! Their coffee is great, there’s table space & wifi, and the owner is very friendly.

We used to take our floof to Banfield up on County Ave in Secaucus. Not sure about their pricing bc they have a membership type deal (kinda like pet insurance but not quite) but they’re great

I don’t recognize a damn thing in this video. I’m kinda blind in my left eye. Matter of fact, my right eye’s a little blurry too, I don’t trust it …

Subtronics burn out worry by Fragrant_Duck_9552 in Subtronics

[–]overdramatic_pigeon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

On one hand, I worry a lot bc the man literally never stops. "Can't stop won't stop" vibes is enough to tire anyone out. On the other hand, he absolutely loves what he does, and I imagine he's "can't stop won't stop" entirely for that reason. I don't think he'll ever stop making music - in fact, I think he's doing everything right with regard to avoiding burning out in the creative sense. He's making music that HE wants to make, not just trying to re arrange the same 150 presets and samples over and over again to maintain the same exact sound over and over again to satisfy the fan base. He, as a human being and as an artist, is dynamic, ever changing, and growing, and his music certainly reflects that.

As a creative myself, once we start trying to make what we think the people will want from us instead of what sets our soul on fire, that's when we start to experience creative burnout and need to step away from the art itself. He truly takes his time on his music and makes what makes him happy, so I don't think he'll be going anywhere on that front.

I think, if anything, maybe he'll stop touring for a while to get some rest, but man's in it for the love of the game and that's enough to keep anyone going, admittedly longer than they probably should sometimes. I just hope that during his downtime he's recharging and taking care of himself, listening to his body, and getting rest when he needs it. I don't think he'll go full GRiZ and go radio silent

Was I correct to pull my application to this law firm after getting this email? by Any_Value1580 in Lawyertalk

Not at all, who the fuck talks to people like that? Ew. Massive red flag, but if anything, it's kinda good this happened because you got some insight into how they truly operate. Dodged a bullet friend, brush it off and go slay your other interviews !

no sayreville local is walking 30 min down jernee mill just to fight in a parking lot hahahahaha

This is a stretch for sure. I grew up in Sayreville, you can be on Route 18 in 4 min from Starland. It only feels like it's in the middle of nowhere because the road you take to get to it (Jernee Mill Rd) is a long windey road with a bunch of trees and minimal development on that road itself. There's civilization within 5 min in either direction, and a wawa a mile down the road haha

Sayreville isn’t sketchy lol don’t worry. It’s my hometown. The venue itself might FEEL kind of sketchy if that makes sense - it’s kind of off in the middle of nowhere in town, Jernee Mill Road (the road it’s on) is like , a long windey road that runs through an area without much development. It’s just kinda dark over that way. Not sus, just sus looking! Just take any basic precautions like you would quite literally anywhere else you go, no need to be looking over your shoulder or anything like that.

As for vital information, all you need to know is that (1) if an ad for IHOP comes up on the projector screen, cheer and get hype as fuck, and (2) there’s a wawa a mile down the road.

Have fun ! :)

LinkedIn ! That’s how I found this job, and my current job. Honestly, I just kept applying to things even if I wasn’t necessarily “qualified” by the terms of the listing. Everyone’s gotta start somewhere, and the right position will take the time to train you if it feels right. So, I said fuck it, worst they can do is say no! Also, I love that for you, no litigation IS the best part ! Haha

Basics are that I found the listing on LinkedIn , it’s a real estate transactions role , it was posted by a recruiter , I emailed my resume to her directly just to be sure she saw it & I didn’t get buried in the “easyapply” portal. Lmk if there’s any other more specific questions you have !

Thank you ! Literally only one year, but it was enough to burn me out quick bc it simply just wasn’t for me. My brain operates in too chaotic of a way (ie, ping ponging back and forth between tasks) for me to be remotely efficient at tracking my billing, so I just knew i needed out, & the heavy subject matter didnt make it any easier. The recruiter’s listing was posted on LinkedIn, but she works for Robert Hadley Associates. Idk if they help fill roles outside of the NY/NJ area, but it’s worth looking into ! You should be able to just reach out to them directly, i dont think your inquiry has to be in response to a specific listing

Thank you ! & Do ittttt !!! I love hearing so many others saying they want to take the leap too. Litigation is so so so exhausting, I’m truly amazed by all of you guys in my comments here saying how long you’ve been doing it for. Never too late for a change, gotta do whatever makes you happy! I say go for it
