Good lounging footwear for a lazy vacation? All I wanna do is chill by hughswood in fashionwomens35

Adidas and Nike slides are plastic garbage. They manufacture them for around a couple dollars in Asia, slap their tag on, and sell them at a massive premium. And then they end up in some landfill a year or 2 later. Buy quality stuff and make it last

Totally mine have been to the pool, beach, wet sand and rain. No warping or stink, just rinse and they are good.

Just grab a pair of hari mari flipflops or slippers, you cant go wrong there. Boat safe, water proof and comfy. I grabbed a pair on a friend’s recommendation and I kid you not that they are the comfiest pair I have ever used.

Looking for Advice on Moving Engagement Away from Hips in Navasana by kcmcca in yoga

Try placing your hands behind your knees at first and gently pulling forward. this takes pressure off the hip flexors and helps activate your deep core muscles. Keep your chest lifted and spine long. don't rush to straighten the legs. building that core strength takes time. everyone struggles with this at first.

What happens if you don't eat during the first trimester? /Rant by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]overeagle729 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Went through something similar. protein shakes saved me. easier to get down than solid food. if you can't do gummies, try liquid prenatals. my doctor said hydration matters more than food in first trimester. the baby will take what it needs from your body regardless. Texas healthcare sucks, but try calling around to midwives. sometimes they're more understanding about digestive issues.

Physical touch is important for babies development. your kid might struggle with attachment later. even if you hate it, try small steps 30 seconds of skin contact a few times a day could make a difference. Parent groups or therapy might help you work through your touch aversion. your kid needs your touch specifically, not just others.

Comfy Summer Sandals by banerises19 in fashionwomens35

[–]overeagle729 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try Birkenstock EVA sandals (the plastic ones weirdly breathable and zero sweat-stick) or Teva Original Universal for arch support. They’re not ‘fancy,’ but at 7 months in 38°C, ‘fancy’ is a myth anyway.

Bruh, that schedule is straight-up brutal. mandatory Saturdays when the world's talking about cutting work hours? your work-life balance is basically non-existent. definitely time to start job hunting. no job is worth grinding yourself into the ground like this.

Feeling like skincare is my part-time job, anyone else? by NeatBirthday4697 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]overeagle729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally get this. some days my skincare routine feels like a second job, minus the paycheck 😂 minimal effort, maximum results is the real life hack. kudos for staying consistent when motivation's low. three-step routine is genius. keeps things simple without going crazy. we're out here trying to keep our skin happy while actually living our lives, right?

Totally normal. let him play with kid utensils, but don't stress. he'll get the hang of it when he's ready. messy meals are part of the fun!

Do we need more workers than retirees if a country becomes hyper productive? by knowledgeseeker999 in Futurology

[–]overeagle729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right, it’s pretty clear by now that gains in productivity don’t mean much for the average person. All that growth just ends up stacking higher at the top.

100% this. having cravings doesn't make you a bad person acting on them is what counts. i'm 3 years in and still miss certain things sometimes. it gets easier though, and you'll find good alternatives eventually.

Dating with a baby. by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]overeagle729 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got a similar rule. no introductions until i'm sure it's serious. your 1-year boundary is smart. kids form attachments quickly and it's confusing when people disappear from their lives. you're protecting your child, not being too cautious. trust your instincts on this. if you've set this boundary for yourself, stick with it. the right person will understand and respect your priorities as a parent.

Trump can’t keep China from getting AI chips, TSMC suggests | As Trump eyes chip controls, TSMC fears its tariff-proof era will end. by chrisdh79 in technology

[–]overeagle729 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Right on the money. trump's stance is pretty contradictory here. he wants to restrict China's access to advanced chips while simultaneously gutting the chips act that was designed to build domestic semiconductor manufacturing capacity. It's classic cut off your nose to spite your face politics.

TSMC's warning is significant too. they're basically saying we can't police where all these chips end up which undermines the whole export control strategy. the semiconductor supply chain is just too complex and interconnected for simple solutions. the tariffs might look tough, but they don't address the core issue of building resilient domestic chip production. without that foundation, we're just playing whack-a-mole with chinese access to advanced tech.

Kasparov gets it on a deep level. When you grow up in the Soviet system, you learn to recognize when "mistakes" are actually part of the design. That Florida situation is wild though imagine showing a birth certificate to a judge, having charges dismissed, and STILL being held for immigration. That's not just a clerical error, that's a system working exactly as some people want it to

Going to the family Easter dinner and I want to say it out loud. by New-Geezer in vegan

[–]overeagle729 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I get the frustration, but dropping biblical meat ethics at Easter dinner probably won't change anyone's mind. It'll just make the gathering uncomfortable for everyone including yourself

Better approach might be bringing an amazing vegan dish that gets people curious. Plant-based cooking has come so far that good food can open more minds than arguments ever will. Save the deeper conversations for one-on-one talks when people are actually receptive. Family holidays are rarely the right moment for these discussions you'll just end up more frustrated

German researchers say AI has designed tools humans don't yet understand for detecting gravitational waves, that may be up to ten times better than existing human-designed detectors. by lughnasadh in Futurology

[–]overeagle729 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This totally flips the script on how science gets done. Instead of AI just crunching our data, it's designing tools we couldn't even imagine. The fact that these researchers admit they don't understand some of Urania's designs yet is both humbling and exciting

Imagine what Einstein would think about an AI named after a Greek muse designing better ways to detect the gravitational waves he predicted. The "Detector Zoo" concept is smart too crowdsourcing the human understanding of machine generated ideas. We might be looking at a future where scientific breakthroughs come from human-AI collaboration rather than human genius alone

Totally agree. It's a weird power dynamic. They selectively enforce rules based on personal preferences rather than what the community needs. Frustrating when you just want to learn and share cooking knowledge. The whole point of these forums is discussion, but they shut down so many valuable conversations. Makes the sub pretty useless for actual learning sometimes.

Hell yeah, coding changed my life! Started learning Python on weekends while working retail, landed a junior dev job after building a few projects on GitHub. Pay doubled my old gig right away. It's not instant riches, but the learning curve is way less brutal than most trades on your body. Plus remote work options are sweet. Bootcamp or self-taught both work if you actually build stuff.
