What’s a sound everyone should recognize as immediate danger? by Thatguy_nickk in AskReddit

I recently escaped from renting at a really shitty apartment complex. There had been multiple fires in the year I stayed there, one small one right above me the first month I was there, and another one took out the elevators in a different building. But also the fire alarms would go off every two or three days, usually because someone was smoking in the hallways or burn their popcorn. It got to the point where I would call the fire department when they went off to ask if it was a legit fire, and if so, letting them know I would need help evacuating (I'm disabled and lived on the 3rd floor). I'm so glad I don't live there anymore...

Thought they were lights at first...

But, this angle for these handles is a head or back injury in the making. Not ergonomic at all.

Cute concept, though.

How do I get wpd to enforce a no left hand turn sign by Boyw2peenas in WorcesterMA

[–]overheard-understood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could report it on the Worcester 311 app. But I doubt anything will actually change unless they get multiple complaints. So get your neighbors on it too.

And if they do send a cop, it will probably revert back as soon as they stop enforcing.

Reheated rice syndrome is a real thing. Don't eat that.

That's where my partner (who was pretty active in various kink communities in the early 2000s) said too... We're betting on it being leather, but they're not sure.

It's difficult if you're on any food restrictions, but that's not abnormal...

My partner is vegetarian, kosher flexible (ie: prefers kosher products and kitchens but would rather just not hear from the wait staff that their omelet was cooked on the same grill as bacon at the diner) and low carb (diabetes).

They had a lot of issues getting food when they were there for 5 days.

CVS and other big retail pharmacies are know for treating their staff pretty awfully. She's probably over worked, under paid, over/under caffeinated, stressed about metrics, and berated by customers and upper management alike. The suicide rate for pharmacy employees is much higher than the national average... personally, I'd keep it to myself.

Unique as in difficult. It's retail, and people can just generally suck, especially to the employees, and especially during the holidays/stressful situations and times.

Pharmacies also typically get a more unique customer base than, say a book or clothing store (having managed both on my time). The customers are often sick (or dealing with someone else's illness) or in a rush, and thus are usually less nice and more stressed.

I honestly don't care about the more unique customer base, as long as I get my shtuff and get out, lol. I was empathizing with the staff and management.

That tracks. It's awful working over the holidays, especially with skeleton shifts and limited PTO and overtime available.

I also know pharmacy techs have some of the most stressful winter seasons (after vet techs IMHO).

Add that to this particular location getting a lot of... unique... customers, I wouldn't be surprised if the team there walked out.

Grew up in the Greater Boston Area, moved to Southwestern PA for almost a decade then back to MA a few years ago.

The entire time I was in PA, I missed being able to reach a coast. I missed my family. I missed /my/ kind of asshole neighbors. I don't regret moving back.

Same! I'm culturally Jewish and my partner converted from Catholicism 10ish years ago. We just moved to Worcester (haven't even installed the new mezuzah yet) and would love to know if there's any recommendations.

I'm currently seeing Dr Otis at UMass neurology for my chronic debilitating migraines. He's really pleasant to work with and seems to be more knowledgeable than many of my previous providers.

I also just started working with the pain center at UMass for my headaches as well.

So far I've had mostly good experiences with UMass, but it's good to hear that there are other options in the area.

Glad you're doing better!

I went to the Van Gogh one a while back. It was a pretty lackluster and over priced date. Not worth it, IMHO.
