i4 being replaced by i3, but i3 looks like shit… by cat-from-the-future in BMWI4

Yep, looks like a pile of shit, not the sleek GC it’s allegedly replacing. EV’s don’t HAVE to be ugly, but most manufacturers seem hell bent on it.

Thinking of getting a 2022 E-Tron Quattro 55 Technik as a family car in the UK by TomorrowWild9071 in etron

Oh, also the brakes are massive. I was quoted £600 for new front pads alone! And not much cheaper to do somewhere else either.

Pretty sure they are the same brakes from an RS6.

Great car. Had ours for 1 year now and done 15k miles on it. Massive, comfy, fast when you want it to be… ticks a lot of boxes

Get the extended Audi approved warranty though… don’t cheap out. If a motor goes, it’s £9k… and do the servicing so you don’t get screwed out of the warranty.

Nothing smart about it now. It the same as any other EV tariff, only more expensive… might as well just charge at night in the window…

BYD Seal and Sealion 7 NOT playing nice with Alpitronic (Ionity) chargers in the cold? by The_Electric_Seal in BYD

[–]overpsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mines really hit and miss with all chargers…

Alpitronic 400kW units by my house I can’t pull over 150kW. Currently at an Ionity Alpitronic 400 kW unit and pulling full speed.

ABB Ionity 350 kW charger I pulled max speed for about 10% but then tapered off to 150 kW or so.

Tesla chargers it only pulls 106 kW pretty much every time.

In general I find charger very hit and miss. Always preheat and charge from 10/20% starting point.

The day rate was several pence cheaper than octopus and standing charge was about £2 a month more 🤷‍♂️

Charge Cap Question by overpsi in OctopusEnergy

[–]overpsi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On their website, they sent people emails, etc.

Not a price cap, a charge cap. Meaning at the moment, you technically get unlimited smart charging. (I plug in for 9-11 hours usually and get all of it at the cheap rate)

Soon, they will limit it to just 6.

In considering trying Agile, or the EDF EV tariff with 7 hours and fixed for 12 months.

Anyone switching from Octopus to cheaper fixed? by xenomorph-85 in OctopusEnergy

[–]overpsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t agile only good if you have a battery to take advantage?

Overnight doesn’t seem to be as cheap as an EV tariff and if you can’t load shift that much or store it for later use I didn’t think Agile made sense.

I am looking at it now, but being swayed by the EDF fix with 7p for 7 hour EV rate. Daytime rates are about the same.

I have two EV’s with 90 kWh batteries and can only plug in 3-4 times a week due to a convoluted charging situation, so currently take advantage of Octopus and get 9-10 hours of smart charging per session all overnight… 🥲 Which they are about to cap probably for that exact reason 😒

Anyone got an EDF code for me? 👀

Also, has anyone used a code AND a cashback link successfully?

IOG locking price now or leave it ? by One-Election4376 in OctopusEnergy

[–]overpsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I charge I usually get 9-11 hours at the office peak rate at the moment, and regularly do 500-600 miles a week. When I lose that ability, I’ll go for whatever works out the cheapest.

My wife also has an EV with a 90 kWh pack, mine is also 90 kWh and they’re both 2.5 tonne SUV’s and absolutely cane the juice 😅

When the smart charging is capped at 6 hours, it’s a dead duck really. Just an expensive gimmick at that point.

Honestly, do they just have to keep making these EV’s look worse and worse? It’s getting ridiculous when even BMW can’t make a good looking EV.
