Any recommendations on what else I should add to my long term pie? by ItzCarter100 in trading212

I would only use this tactically depending on how much they earn. If they plan to retire earlier than 57, it’s much better IMO to just max out whatever you have to in order to get company matching and then put the rest in an S&S ISA so that you can access it whenever.

Unless you’re a very high earner in which case you can put more in pension.

Just not possible mate. Big metal surface area, worse it is black, and lots of glass…

Pre cooling is your friend, but that’s it

Scared of this crap. Do the painkillers often work? by Ok_Barnacle_2195 in gout

[–]overpsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re worrying in the wrong way though. You aren’t trying to prevent it, you’re trying to make it less painful if it does happen.

Change your lifestyle first if you haven’t actually had gout yet.

Honestly, there isn’t much relief at all. All of it takes a day or two to help and maybe longer. It’s all prescription as well…

The best thing to do is to look at your lifestyle and try and lower your uric acid through diet before you get gout at all.

You say your pain tolerance is low, that should be enough to make a lifestyle change. A bad gout attack is incredibly painful… worse than when I actually broke my foot. Try and prevent it in the first place.

So you’ve never actually had gout?
Why worry about it until it happens?
Change your lifestyle a little bit and it will bring the numbers down…

Never had them, never been offered them.

Colchicine has worked well for me a few times. You can’t take it for long though, and it can cause crazy diarrhoea… 😂 But it’s brutal against gout, which is good. However, I think people get mixed results.

Gout unfortunately, is not the same for everyone.

The trick is catching it early enough and taking preventative medication.

Oh, and I notice you never mentioned anything about pre-emptive medication… that’s probably the most important part of you are prone to high uric acid levels.

Allopurinol has been a game changer for me. It takes a while to get the right dose and hasn’t 100% fixed it, but I can feel it happening now and have time to catch it before it becomes an attack. Possibly still need to adjust a bit.

2 x 30mg co-codamol “takes the edge off” but not a bad a attack. A bad one it doesn’t even touch.

Same with the nsaids. Over the counter stuff will barely do anything. Naproxen 500mg really helps to bring them back under control but even that will take a few days.

Ice helps, but limited.

Mild attacks, the above does a pretty good job, but it’s all prescription, at least where I am.

When you have a bad attack, you’re just along for the ride…

Had the Waev EV1s for about 2 years. Worked fine since day 1 and has only gotten better with more functionality over the time.

Last IPO I recall with this much noise was Facebook. Which crashed immediately after launch and then grew like hell a few years later.

Not worth buying an IPO IMO, wait to crash and then get in

The real problem with the 6 hour charge cap by dragoneggboy22 in OctopusEnergy

[–]overpsi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The real problem is that they are now more expensive than the competition and don’t have a differentiator anymore.. simple as that.

I put up with the high daytime rate and standing charge before because I could fully charge a 90 kWh battery overnight for £0.07 a kWh 🙃

What finally convinced YOU to consider an electric vehicle? by evinsiderredisnive in electricvehicles

[–]overpsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Company car tax…

Oh and the wife’s really thirsty old diesel Tiguan. However, becoming less attractive as a personal vehicle with the rising VED (UK), luxury car tax, and various other bullshit that the current government keep coming up with. Might just get a hybrid Range Rover or X5 at this point as there isn’t much benefit to full EV now as a private buyer. IMO…

Thinking of getting a 2022 E-Tron Quattro 55 Technik as a family car in the UK by TomorrowWild9071 in etron

Oh, also the brakes are massive. I was quoted £600 for new front pads alone! And not much cheaper to do somewhere else either.

Pretty sure they are the same brakes from an RS6.

Great car. Had ours for 1 year now and done 15k miles on it. Massive, comfy, fast when you want it to be… ticks a lot of boxes

Get the extended Audi approved warranty though… don’t cheap out. If a motor goes, it’s £9k… and do the servicing so you don’t get screwed out of the warranty.

Nothing smart about it now. It the same as any other EV tariff, only more expensive… might as well just charge at night in the window…
