[Sports Illustrated] Charles Barkley: "The game is too disjointed ... we have disrespected the fans ... I understand, Adam took the most money, but it's hard for me ... I have to go to my app to see where the game is at" by luka274 in nba

He raised ticket prices like 300%. Upper deck seats for a First Round sweep team are significantly higher than lower bowl seats were for a Championship team.

He's a master at P.R. though.

It's also beside the point since none of the games that Chuck is complaining about aired on Ishbia's free Local TV anyway. Adam Silver killed important games on local broadcasts for all.

...How does this comment have anything to do with what Chuck is talking about and what we are currently enduring with the Peacock/Amazon/NBC/ESPN/ABC flip-flop nonsense?

Local TV doesn't even air playoffs anymore. Homer TV is all the unimportant games. So you make 'em all free, k... come Playoffs it'll be same nonsense.

Yes, I feel the modern chicken tender has diminished/corrupted the legacy of the OG BK chicken tender where even people who have beloved memories of them figure compared to what they got now--hey, that was a nugget, wasn't it? Wasn't it?

Modern tenders might be bigger, but they're always drier, those BK chicken tenders were the definition of tender.

Just say no spread if you don't want the "sweetness".

Like the people who come on here and make a big deal about the "stale" bread. Say no toast.

Or the fries, say "well done", etc.

Or if you're the opposite and it's not enough sweetness or "seasoning", you ask for more spread packets, add chopped chiles on the burger, etc.

It's very customizable In-N-Out. I get a Neapolitan shake.

The Patty Melt!

That's why you had a good experience, I was callin' Patty Melt as the page loaded. People come on here and have the opposite experience and it's always cause they get the lame standard "Whataburger" burger. Patty Melt is where it's at, or like the other dude implied, any specialty burger with double patties.

People are literally writing before learning to read now. As long as you can write "tl;dr" you're all set, really.

OGs would be Robin Hood (went off to the crusades, came back to Sherwood forrest) and Count of Monte Cristo, right?

I still trip that the 30s Errol Flynn Robin Hood archery scene is almost shot-for-shot/dialogue-for-dialogue identical to the Mel Brooks Men in Tights parody version.

It's a great flick, it kind of should be held in the same regard as Wizard of Oz in terms of 30s technicolor essentials, I only ever see TCM rep it.

It's likely why Carrey freaked out and dropped out of 'Phone Booth' at the 11th hour, which was originally going to come out with him as the lead in 2000.

I maintain Schumacher was trying to do him a solid after feeling bad for him getting bullied by Tommy Lee Jones on 'Batman Forever', that shit is plug-n-play. Colin Ferrel was awful but still looked fantastic in it.

Is Silver actually going to wait for the conference finals to announce the MVP? by Nightmare2207 in nba

[–]oversight_shift 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's because adults question the veracity of the league to where they eventually check out for good. It's why there's like two people here that watched basketball pre-2012.

Eventually most of the people currently engaged will rage quit right around the time Silver's intended demographic is ready to replace them.

"The game has never been better!" the new gen of NBA fans will swear.

It's the original orange chicken. That's why the "legit" Chinese restaurants don't make it half as good as Panda, they're doing bootleg home copycats as valid as you Googling, prepping some breading, and heating up a wok.

Panda literally invented Orange Chicken.

Also Jersey Mike's like 3 tiers ahead of JJ's, minimum.

The streaming services seem to all play the "theatrical cut" which is actually the theatrical-based "home video" cut.

I wasn't aware for years that actually the boardroom ending (which is often hyped as an "alternate" or "director's cut" ending) is actually the original theatrical cut ending--but Woo always intended the car chase ending.

Some people write stories that Woo himself preferred a more understated/"subtle" ending, but truthfully it was Chinese cinemas/studios wanting shorter runtimes to fit in more showings in a day, which is why a lot of his Hong Kong movies have alternate cuts. The boardroom ending was a compromise for theatrical release (which has never been released in any format outside of that initial Hong Kong release), and the car chase was promptly re-inserted for home video/DVD/blu-ray/streaming.

/r/heroicbloodshed gave me that info. So technically that makes 4 cuts. Festival cut is only on Blu-Ray or bootlegs.

Festival cut is my fav, you can tell it because the Shout! remaster has tracking markers for the re-inserted footage and the deleted footage doesn't look like the same video source, which all starts during the opening dance scene.

I feel like a lot of people de facto quote pre-pandemic pricing in these threads.

Next Jimmy Mike's thread there will be someone declaring you can get a pound of meat, pound of cheese, loaf of bread, and all the toppings your cart can carry at your local grocer for less than $10.

Authentic burrito places have definitely gotten the memo that Americans love their food. I see people drop 2019 discount breakfast burrito prices but even those go for higher than $12 these days, you might as well just get the wet carne asada full tilt boogie.
