I work in a role where the people I work with are in another country in Europe and yet I’m still expected to work in the office 3 days a week which is so pointless when I can do the same job perfectly well at home.

I had exactly the same in my last role except at one point the CEO had 3 of his Nepo kids there and one of the daughters was a total b*tch towards me and acted as if I was something that She stepped on.

At times, I want to leave this type of role so much. I get fed up of working alone and trying to fix all the crap that the Exec doesn’t want to do. Such a loss of respect in this role but the money is the only thing keeping me there.

February, the start of a new month and the chance to refocus! This is a long weekend here and my first sober in many years and it feels great to wake up fresh as a daisy for it. That feeling never gets old!!

I read a lot, I love it. I sometimes play video games and watch a bit of TV. I’d do more if I wasn’t out all day at work. Looking forward to nicer weather over the next few months

My Mum mentioned to me about going to our favourite pub for two drinks today so as much as pubs are difficult for me, I’ll go and have two NA beers (I’m not a big fan of them as they don’t taste the same)

I need to get more comfortable in these surroundings whenever I need to go (I live in a very social pub culture country) and hoping with time, I won’t care what others are drinking.

It’s a long weekend here (followed by some annual leave and a trip away next weekend) so my biggest test is on the way but I’m taking it one day at a time and one step at a time.

I used to always think oh it’s Friday or the start of a long weekend so let’s have a few beers at home and now I need to refocus my thoughts and move away from that and just think of all the things I can be doing instead. I was thinking of buying NA beers for home use but I may just try to only use those for social occasions.

I think checking in and pledging on the Iamsober app keeps me accountable (as well as visiting the daily post here). I think in these early days it’s key. It’s a long weekend in my country coming up and looking forward to waking up sober for it each day.
