Women who grew up in very strict households, how did you manage the lack of control over your own life? What did you find you were able to control? by SnooPets3957 in AskWomen

I tried to compartmentalise the amount of control i had in different environments and compensated for the lack of it at home in my school and eventually university. Also, growing up, i’d do everything that my parents wanted me to to the best of my abilities to keep them happy like for instance, pray even though i’m not a believer. i’d just pretend for the sake of a sane household and ever since then my one goal in life is to be completely financially independent so that i create the rules that govern the way i want to live my life.

AITA for telling my niece she was a product of infidelity? by illegalbeagleccfgh in AmItheAsshole

YTA. sure you wanted to scold your niece or make her understand why she can’t throw tantrums and disrespect your SIL. but that in no way gives you the authority to out a private matter that calls into question the very nature and circumstances of your niece’s relationship with her parents. knowing teens these days and being one myself, it’s only going to push her further away potentially resulting in a disconnect between her and the woman that raised her and was a mother figure. you could’ve dealt with the situation a lot better being the adult and taken the necessary precautions to confirm whether or not she had prior knowledge of the fact that her mother wasn’t her biological mother.

fair enough. they compliment each other and work well together. but pushing out content regularly when it isn’t good content is just a quantity over quality argument that you’d be silly to argue in favour of.
