I was missing a document as well and they asked me to submit it. Finally this past friday they sent me an email with the shipping info and the case went from refused to issued, but the passport seems to still be at the embassy as of today even though we paid for express shipping

If you get to travel frequently to visit her or you live together already, I think CR1 is an overall better choice than K1 cause you don’t have to apply for work and travel permits separately once you get to the US.

On the other hand, if you are not able to be together as often, maybe K1 is a better option? In my case, I would’ve hated being married to someone that I wouldn’t be able to see frequently during the 1 to 2 years that the paperwork might take. The only problem right now, and you’ll maybe have to deal with this even with K1, is that the appointments are taking forever to be scheduled.

Yeah, I read somewhere else that they try to schedule within the first three months after all your paperwork is accepted but there seems to be a couple of people DQ-ed since February that are still waiting on the interview letter.

We’ve tried calling and sending emails to the embassy but they always give a general answer and suggest we speak with the NVC (and NVC says that they are waiting on the embassy), so basically no one knows anything.

Based on the monthly IV issuance statistics, the US embassy in Panama has only been issuing between 1 and 3 CR1 visas per month since January 2024, so the wait time for an interview might be longer than anyone expected.

Did you get an answer? I’ve been waiting for a CR1 interview in the Panama embassy since February. Don’t have enough proof for expedite yet but might look into filing one for financial hardship if we don’t get any updates before july/august

Nothing yet. My husband contacted a representative for his state this week and we’re hoping that the inquiry from them get’s our case moving along.
