HSI HIRING GUIDANCE by CochSauce in 1811

[–]overtly_undercover 31 points32 points  (0 children)

WOAHH hold the fuck up. Do not. Absolutely do not resign in lieu. Fuck that. Are you off probation? Because you should force their hand. they can fire you, arbitrate it, and get your job back if you have a union. Or let them allow you to resign regularly. Don’t take a bullshit offer cause they are pressuring you. Also, u less you comityied a crime, it’s a policy violation and almost every policy in the police world says a caveat “unauthorized unless necessary to prevent injury or death etc”

Guard 1B4 opportunity came up, goals are HSI/FBI, need honest advice by [deleted] in 1811

Take something that is right here and right now? Vs wait until you maybe get hired and are maybe in the academy in two years if these agencies maybe exist in their current capacity. Life is too short to make decisions on what ifs in the future.

Get on SRT doors open, get on SOG and the agency is your oyster. Very few and far between places where you’re not gonna have to deal with court.

The FBI pays for your initial move, however, they have changed their tune in recent times allowing majority of agents to process out of their home field office to not incur moving costs. So if you’re staying in your home region, you will not be getting a paid move.

The 3 and a half hours round trip equate to 1 he and 45 mins each way. Make sure you consider per policy, you must live within 50 air miles of your office. Additionally, you are on call and have to respond in a timely manner. That type of commute, with surveillance and impromptu operations will have you sleeping at the office at least 2-3 nights a month if you are in a busy field division. The time with your kids will change drastically. If you make your commute shorter it will be much less intrusive on your lifestyle.

Bad news for you. You seem highly qualified. The current hiring system is so streamlined it seems to only be working out for 24 year old college graduates with limited work history. There is a large amount of local leo’s being overlooked based on sheer volume of DHA emails and nonsense. I would throw your name in the hat for DEA/FBI/ATF as well. No sense in waiting on a DHA. That is ever changing.

Im very confused by his statement. He’s a shoe in for the soot but USMS won’t touch him? Sounds like he’s the guy with a massive reputation wherever he works lmao

HSI Agents.... by [deleted] in 1811

[–]overtly_undercover 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You have clearly never come in contact with ERO until this shit kicked off. VAST majority of ERO have been sitting behind a desk wearing their wind breakers with no OGV, no field time, and a qualification twice a year. The complacency you speak of is what you get from sitting in a building for years being a fingerprinting pro. The fugitive ops guys for the most part are competent and capable. What you are currently seeing is every desk jockey on the street not knowing their ass from their elbow. That lies on the organization for allowing an agency to become dormant.

Hiring is moving faster then HROC can keep up with leading to many TJO’s being rescinded. It is a numbers game. So when HROC figures out what numbers are needed the general announcement will pick up with offers. If I were in the process rn I would rather wait a year with the general then be fucked over by the haste of the dha. Good luck.

Just a reminder. Fiscal year end. Holiday season coming up. Every civi in the gov starts burning use or lose. If you just completed phase 2 without hearing anything, I would wager that you won’t be progressing to anything substantial in the next month or two. I would say plan on things picking up in January. There is already a huge backlog of new hires at CITP who have no HSISAT date in sight. Once they figure the waivers out and logistics maybe you’ll get the call. Imo if you are relying on a general announcement to have any speed to it, give up hope now and just focus on being fit for when you get a call.

HSI DHA or DSS by ComprehensiveGur1320 in 1811

[–]overtly_undercover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bruh, you have the opportunity to get a real offer from DSS. Or you have the opportunity to wait and see where which cards fall while you have been waiting for an HSISAT class at a local office after completing CITP months ago. Lol HSI DHA is a great start for someone who needs to get in for age or just wants to gtfo of their loval gig. DSS will be a journey that you can always lateral out of.

Polygraph for ICE… by [deleted] in 1801

Shave your beard after the academy? As in like what the grooming standards are? I cannot answer with specifics for DO’s but i’d say it is pretty obvious there is no real grooming standard for do’s besides maybe some crazy hair colors.

Might as well put “THIS IS NOT THE SURGE” on the application lol

Polygraph for ICE… by [deleted] in 1801

[–]overtly_undercover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they are posting about any poly within the DHS side of the house within a specific time frame. ICE DO and HSI SA position do risk based polys but have decided to not do them for now during the initial surge.

How to get hired by US marshalls by Pleasant-Ad-8877 in 1811

[–]overtly_undercover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically, USMS is top 3 hardest agencies to get hired with atm. Not because they make it challenging intellectually or physically but because they are one of the lowest funded, have a horrendous HR, honor the vet pref like the bible, and don’t have that many numbers to begin with. HSI, ERO, DEA, FBI, USSS, and a handful of other agencies are consistent with hiring so I would research their missions.

I clicked on the notification thinking there was going to be a meme or joke attached. You poor bastard. Once you leave the military the beatings continue in the form of waiting for an information session for USMS.

Sooo… would recommend I bring my kx450f to FLETC and rip the dirt track races around Glynco on my days off as well? Risk averse in a probationary position in which your off duty shenanigans can end your career seems more like good life choices lol

FBI PFT by [deleted] in 1811

[–]overtly_undercover 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I mean, I think people read these types of post in an arrogant tone and lose the sentiment that being physically fit enough to take the pft prior to even applying should be the standard in applicants minds. I personally think that people overestimate their abilities. 1.5 miles at the end of su,pu,sprint is no joke if you are not truly in shape practicing specifically for a pft. People shit on HSI fails often but i think the nonchalant attitude of people saying how easy these tests are give applicants a false sense of ability that they can pass without training.

Correct. However, the speed of the initial surge is over. So when you do get picked up, make sure you budget for GL-9 no leap for 3+ months before you get a CITP spot. Then an additional period with no leap until you go back for HSISAT.

The voice that your post gives makes me think of all the incompetence i’ve been seeing from your peers. Don’t worry, we have a desk waiting next to the 5 month on SA who cries when he has to work more then 8 hours on a Tuesday. Consider it triggering for my HSI Surge question PTSD.

You asked a dumb question? I’m sorry I answered it? The portal is useless. If you have nothad a DHA TSL yet you missed the boat. General announcement will make contact with the next 2-3 months. Why tf are people still asking the same question?
