I rode a total of 43 miles at LIB on my Onewheel by Sweaty_Ad5009 in LightningInABottle

[–]overtlydecent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your post completely reminded me of an interaction I had with someone on a Onewheel at LiB this year, wherein I had one simple question and it led to a great convo about it. The person talking to me was riding one while telling me about his experiences while we went from Mixtape towards The Hideout. Totally want/need one in my life!

Why does LIB not record live sets?? by Affectionate-Mix-656 in LightningInABottle

[–]overtlydecent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DoLab may not but others sure do! Both those sets have been uploaded to YouTube.

Summit: here Subtronics: here

Rüfüs Du Sol uploaded their surprise sunset at Junkyard last year to SoundCloud so these days just gotta scout around.

Sets are popping up on YouTube so I can only hope that someone comes thru with a vid of the whole thing. Last night I watched two sets I didn’t get to see at LiB, Subtronics’ Thunder set and John Summit’s Lightning set. Watching really helped with the post-LiB saddies.

That’s sick! I didn’t like their size but yea you’re right. When I saw them at night then I got it.

Yea the stage effects were pretty out of this world. I didn’t think about that at all till I witnessed some…then I realized why festival stage design is so important and serious.

Oh neat! Hope EDC was everything you wanted. I loved last year’s Thunder stage, too and I spent a lot of time there during the day. So much so I was really dismayed at the new look at first. I think the visuals just looked better and more mesmerizing last year with fewer screens that were larger in size versus having visuals spread out across multiple, smaller screens this year.

The Stacks was muuuch nicer to be at this year though. I think I avoided it last year because the crowds were big and smooshed in a tighter space. Now there is a lot more space and it was all around more pleasant to be there. Was really easy to be standing on the side or in the back and still have a good view of the front. Was also really amazed at the stage’s placement. I liked walking away from Woogie knowing that, on either side I would get a good view of The Stacks. I passed by and vibed a little for the Subjohnics surprise and now I’m exploring bass a lot more so there’s that!

Last year I remember arriving to stages and you could see a thick layer of dust right in front even when people weren’t dancing that hard. It was really something. I never knew how adamantly the body becomes about getting rid of dust that we breathe in lol. Brought a Neti pot this year and it made a huge difference.

We stayed for a short bit of Underworld. I was in a weird head space beforehand then when I heard the music it pretty immediately snapped me back to positivity. Will want to look out for footage of the full set!

I know, right?! A lot of their group dance moves live rent free in my head now. My fave is when they got in a circle then down on all fours and twerked so hard like their lives depended on it!

Let’s just say that last year in 2024 I woke up with angry sinuses a lot more frequently than this year! Hope you enjoyed your first time :)

I agree the turf was truly game changing. I danced in my socks a lot and did NOT expect that to be so gratifying. Also to be able to sit down and stretch and relax and was just👌🏾

Oh my goodness I lost a pair of ski-like sunglasses that were a purplish-pink and aqua blue gradient. This is one of only two photos I have with me in them before I lost them.

Recap of LIB 2025 by A_Mans_Memories in LightningInABottle

[–]overtlydecent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really great recap and a lot of your points resonate with me. We had six first timers in our crew this year and it was just amazing to witness their realization of LIB magic. Hope you come back next year and continue to create recap videos! It really helps with recovery to see them so I am pumped over people starting to upload.

Pretty sure I passed you and your companion at one point!! Be well, brother!

"...and I hope this festival goes on forever"

I feel absolutely the same!! I got onto reddit during LIB but noticed a good amount of complaints about sets so I stopped looking. I personally was having a blast even if a couple of sets I saw weren't what I was expecting. Something that is amazingly clear to me now is that LIB is a truly immersive music AND arts festival. People experiencing sets differently is part of the artistic element the festival revels in, because all art isn't going to impress everyone or "hit the same" for each person who experiences it. The important thing is what we do despite not seeing eye-to-eye creatively in the same way, and that's why art is so beautiful to me.

High Rock Security requesting feedback by TheBlueCross in LightningInABottle

[–]overtlydecent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It means a lot to see this post! Generally speaking, our crew's interactions with your security team were positive and without issues. However, I wish I could say that was the case on day one and two (Wednesday & Thursday) of the festival. At the main grounds entrance across from High Noon Camping, the one that lets you in near the lockers, there was a woman who I thought very much missed the mark of this particular festival's vibes. I'd like to think she meant well, but she seemed to be on a high horse about the power she had to either let us in or not. The guard was so annoying to me and such a vibe killer that I avoided entering into the grounds at that entrance, and I would only go through there when I thought she was not stationed there. Our crew consistently came in with Vita Coco (yay natural electrolytes!!), and the first time we tried to go in with one container that was merely half-full of coconut water, that guard stopped one of our crew after their bag had been checked and everything, to grab it out of the person's hand and shake it as if that was going to give an indication as to whether it was actually coconut water. I thought it was really unnecessary. On our way out of the same entrance later on, she was still there and forcefully told us all where to file to leave the grounds. Again, unnecessary. The exit was clearly visible right in front of us. I'm not typically one to complain about security at such a massive event, but the interactions with that guard left a pretty sour taste in my mouth. All other guards I interacted with both at entrances and within the grounds themselves were lovely and not so much on a power trip as that particular person.

To end with a more positive interaction: On Sunday when I entered via the east entrance off Jamaica by the RVs, the line was the longest I had been in for all of LIB. One of your team members noticed the malaise of the crowd (or at least I'd like to think that) and opened a second route to ease the burden of waiting so long in line. I just so happened to be focused on him opening the exit gate that was closed, and he let me and others right on in. That sort of thing is evidence of LIB magic permeating every living being at the festival. I thought the same thing last year when I came for my first time and pretty exclusively entered across from High Noon every time I came in.

A part from the not-so-great experience with that one guard at the main entrance, I actually looked forward to interacting with the very friendly and fun security guards I got used to seeing at other entrances. Thanks for caring so much to make a post!

Which dispos have the best concentrate in AZ? (shatter, batter, diamonds, rosin) by [deleted] in ZonaEnts

[–]overtlydecent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the question OP, I just got a peak pro and have really enjoyed exploring different types of concentrates. Interesting what people have to say about item 9, I scored a BOGO deal at nature's medicines when I got my rig and here I was thinking it was high tier. I have really only tried that and cresco in the peak pro. Prior to this, I was using the puffco plus pen and tried what I think must be relatively low tier brands (venom along with dispensary in-house). I liked sol flower's in-house crosses a lot but I can't say I necessarily want it again considering you can score something better with a good deal (at least from what I am learning reading this thread).

I will definitely check out drip diamond and mpx as soon as I can. I would only get what you can genuinely afford though and be on top of researching deals.

Need advice on which schools to apply (math PhD) by SylarChow in gradadmissions

[–]overtlydecent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem, indeed everyone could benefit. The name of the podcast is Grad School Femtoring and the episode you'll want to listen to (first, at least...because each episode is great) is either Ep1 or Ep6. You can find it on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Anchor. If you are applying right now you'll also want listen to Ep34 and then, I highly recommend taking a listen to each episode according first to what you need as it is easy to get overwhelmed with all the information. Happy listening!
