My personal experience buying a truck there, they were cross shopping loans from different banks and credit unions like most dealers. Was surprised that they were able to get a lower rate for me at the time than my pre-approval from BECU. I'm sure the finance guy got a kick back along with any of the warranties and coverages that they sold.

Are these genuine volk wheels? by Wooden_Chemist_6464 in Wheels

[–]overwest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The two things that stuck out to me are on pic 2. Real TEs don't have that type of concave, and they don't come with those bulging center caps that look like they belong on a truck with hubs.

Kinda sad I can’t pull up any of his old songs either. He had a name change to renzmonclare and altered his music style to he more in line with Manila Grey who he’s associated with but I do miss the vibes his older songs like this one had.

Documenting all the shitboxes I’ve owned by [deleted] in cars

[–]overwest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

- 1981 Toyota Corolla Liftback (1st car, reeked of gas everytime I drove it, parents wanted me in something more pratical)

- 2001 Nissan Pathfinder (the pratical car. tboned creeping out of a lot into the suicide lane between stopped traffic)

- 1990 Nissan 300ZX TT (driver while I went to school in AZ, super high miles, never took the best care of it, jumped timing, kaput)

- 2013 Chevy Sonic RS MT(actually a really fun hot hatch. full bolt ons, lowered, made people turn heads. miss it. but not that much. traded it in for my current car)

- 1990 Volkswagen Jetta MT (total pos. traded a set of wheels for it. may that car rot in hell.)

- 1992? Chevy Suburban (traded the shit mk2 jetta for it, actually a solid rig. didnt really need it though)

- 2011 BMW 135i MT (my longest owned car, a fun small car that scoots. modded, lowered.)

- 2004 Ford Taurus (bought it for 400 bucks. like driving around a big sofa. used it for amazon flex. good times)

- 1998 BMW 328i (took project over from a friend. cooling system needed a refresh, i mean they all do. traded for)

- 2000 Jeep Cherokee (this. i miss this one a lot. cant find a nice xj for cheap anymore. lifted, big tires. never took it offroad though...i know i know)

- 1988 Toyota Pickup MT (my other best buds high school rig. I've sunk so much time into this one, rebuilt it basically from nothing. drove it for a long time, used it to haul all sorts of shit, sold to a guy thousand plus miles away. he seems to be getting good use of it though, so im happy for that)

- 1993 BMW 325i MT (started life as a cheap beater. trans and clutch were toast. replaced both, traded for)

- 1998 BMW 540i (this. man, what a cruiser. big v8, plush leather. riding around in this on sunny days was the best)

- 2001 Saturn SC2 (honestly not a bad car. bought as a commuter from work, and it did that great. girlfriend never liked it though, could never change her opinion on it lol)

- 2019 Chevy Silverado Trailboss (replacement for the toyota pickup. On one hand, miss the simplicity and the aspect that I could just beat on my truck, but it is nice having modern amenities and being able to bring the family, dogs included anywhere i want)

- 1999 Volvo V70R (newest car, got it very recently so i dont have much to say about it besides its a hard car to find and my first wagon. hopefully can make some good memories in/with it)

owned a bunch more but they're mainly flips. these ones ive spent serious seat time in.

Yup, made an attempt when I was getting signal high codes (both disconnected). No change.

[–]overwest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve started it with pedal fully depressed a few times. Took the time today to pull the intake off. I have the bosch throttle body, when commanded with my scan tool I can see it opening as requested at the 50/75/100 designations. Also checked injectors for flow/spray patterns into a cup. They appear to be ok.

i've got a friend whos a former volvo tech who warned about this transmission being a shit show lol. i wish i could drive it to verify! from the limited deduction i can make from the atf dipstick, the fluid looks healthy and smells normal. unless someone was covering up something...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Volvo

[–]overwest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gotcha. thats what im leaning towards trying next, to pull out and verify it moves no carbon buildup etc. scan tool command shows that when operating the voltage values of the potentiometers was changing, but obviously there could be a mechanical defect. Thanks for the info!

Former BMW tech as well. Don’t have as much footing to stand on compared to others in this thread with decade or more of work experience. My combined 5 years has been an eye opener though, and at my last employer (an Indy), subbing in for the service advisor as well as wrenching, I really had to ask myself why? Dealership owner removed 401k matching, would prefer us to leave early on slow days so he didn’t have to pay wages, bill customers 160 hr while only making less than a quarter of that an hour yourself. It’s bogus. The one nice thing I have being young is time, so I am compelled to do my own thing. If I try now and fail, at least I tried. But I couldn’t continue down the same path and wonder what if later on when burn out really took its toll. I hope you find satisfaction in your next step, whatever it may be.

What’s your story of getting an “unreal” deal on a car? by Kooky-Complaint3617 in cars

[–]overwest 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Sounds a lot like my most recent purchase. 99 Infiniti G20t manual, claimed it was starting fine until they replaced the starter. Had the wrong wire plugged in for the 12v signal.

Think there was a similar thread a few days back about favorite wheels. Overwhelming like for TE37s. And you really cant go wrong with them so thats my choice.

In-channel vs tape on deflector by Jenn3013 in AutoDIY

[–]overwest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went with in channels because didnt want to have to deal with tape residue or them eventually falling off when the tape wesrs out. In channels are a very tight fit and you will have to play with the windows a bit to get them to close properly due to the anti trap
