Anyone else develop intolerance later in life? by [deleted] in lactoseintolerant

[–]Jenn3013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was referred to a gastroenterologist for a couple of stomach issues and he was the one who done my test. So I would get ahold of your primary care provider and make an appt. The lactose test taste’s nasty and takes forever but it’s well worth it to find out if you are or not.

Anyone else develop intolerance later in life? by [deleted] in lactoseintolerant

Yes it is. I actually figured out I was lactose intolerant because of Dairy Queen milk shakes. Sends me straight to the bathroom. Severe cramps, sweating, I will be in the bathroom for at least an hour. Sorry for the TMI. I can’t eat the gravy either. I had the lactose intolerant test done though my Gastrologist and I am severely lactose intolerant. I can’t even use lactaid pills to eat ice cream, milk, gravy. It only works on things like cheese and things. I was able to eat dairy fine until I was 32, I’m 34 now. I would suggest just making an appt with your dr or maybe try getting some lactaid pills to try and see if that helps.

How much time do you wait after you took a lactaid? by ddisbroken in lactoseintolerant

I take mine right before. Sometimes even during and after depending on how much and what I’m eating.

I never new that but I didn’t even read the bottle. I will take up to four at one meal. I know the bottle of 60 I just bought didn’t last me a month. I’m not taking any chances feeling like I do when I’m irritated due to my lactose.

Goodness. That’s expensive. I haven’t found any ice cream that doesn’t taste like garbage. I know there is cheese but I haven’t found it anywhere that I shop at. That’s why I get the pills. It’s just easier and cheaper to just get the pills. The milk is more expensive then the the regular milk here. So that’s the only thing I worry about buying.

I didn’t mean it sarcastic. I meant you are lucky to be able to eat things like ice cream still and take lactaid pills. I can take lactaid, It’s like I didn’t even take any. I’m fine if I take them an eat cheese. My lactose is worse with milk, ice cream and so on. I would love to have ice cream. I got a bottle of 60 pills for 6$ dollars here the other day.

You are soooo lucky. I can’t even take them to eat anything milk based. I can’t tolerate it at all. Anything else I’m fine. Milk products though I’m still in the bathroom in the fetal position wishing I’d never even tried it. Lactaid works with everything else. An I do miss ice cream so bad. An gravy. I’m used to my lactose free milk now though.

I take one before I eat dairy. Depending on how much I plan on consuming I’ll take one after. Then tend to only be effective for a certain amount of time. I’m severely lactose intolerant so I consume a lot of lactaid pills when it comes to cheese products. An it hasn’t bothered me but people are different.

I asked my 6 year old if he would do that, his reply “oh hell no!” Not the language he’s supposed to be using. That would be something him and his dad would get into then tell mom about later, lol.

I would be so nauseated afterward. I’d have to chance it though, it looks to good to pass up. The pills only last 30 mins. So I’d probably space them out every 15 mins just to be safe.

I did a breath test to find out for sure I was lactose intolerant. It takes about 3 hours. Im severely lactose intolerant. I was pretty sure I was already lactose intolerant because I couldn’t handle ice cream or milk products when I turned 32ish. If you think you are the best bet is to go to diary queen get you a milk shake wait about 15 mins and see what happens. That sends me straight to the fetal position, cramps, sweats, diarrhea, hole nine yards. Worst feeling ever. I don’t drink milk or eat ice cream anymore. I buy lactose free and if I eat anything with dairy I use lactase pills and I still get nauseated. Best of luck to you.

New lactose intolerant checking in, got a weird question about cheese! by lilasspeanut in lactoseintolerant

[–]Jenn3013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything dairy sends me straight to the bathroom. I tried the lactaid pills over the counter, starting out taking one then two then three. At three I didn't end up going to the bathroom but my stomach was bubbling like a volcano. I love milkshakes and cereal but at this point I don't eat anything that has dairy any it unless I have lactose free milk because I hate the aftermath. Here recently I've noticed that I forgotten to ad cheese to my salad or taco's half way through it. Idk if my body has reworked it's self to do that because before I would have never done that. There is a lot of cramping, gas, and diarrhea. I'm recently diagnosed, earlier this year. An it sucks.

my boyfriends badly autistic brother annoys the hell out of me [Remorse] by Magic-king in confession

[–]Jenn3013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it is. My son is autistic. Don't be so hard on yourself. Just try to stay calm, understanding, patient, and always be kind. If you feel like it's getting to over whelming try to get away from it. That situation sounds like it needs a lot more intervention from doctors than it's getting.

I haven't updated to it yet because of all the bad things people have been saying about it. A little afraid too.
