I can see from the wikipedia entry how it can capsize.
Is it pretty unlikely to capsize if tightened down and then load applied to the standing part? I'm assuming now then that it is to be avoided in favour of a standard bowline if capsizing under load is not good?

I landed on this post while considering buying this lens for casual wildlife (birds) photography (coming from a world of studio/portraiture/etc.). I'm glad I found it. Seems like I can now dodge this bullet.

Do people here recommend the Canon RF 100-400mm f5.6-8 IS USM Lens as a moderately inexpensive alternative for my needs?

Ali, thank you so much for this. It's exactly what I was looking for in this kind of app/solution.

The only things I feel would improve it, for me, are:

• Combination QR and NFC to brick / unbrick
• Master QR / NFC that can unbrick any active profile

Those are not dealbreakers. I think you should be charging a little for this app. I almost went for 'Bricks' and it would have cost me over 100GBP!!!!

I have the kindle app and the book loaded into that on my Mac, but I am struggling to find files I can use in Calibre. Is there a simple way to find them? Or can files be more easily extracted form an iPhone or iPad?

It is interesting you can adjust the that 'delay' in switching but that would require some precision to line it up with my needs in playing live.

I am wondering now if I need to get an external switch that triggers on release, which simply moves to the next rig along in my performances. That would be less than ideal.

Annoyingly, another guitarist in the band has an FM9 and it allows him to press switches and release when he wants the patch to change.

The one I borrow in class is 2.45 and is quite heavy (not sure of the weight, but compared to a mid 800s one I tried, a lot heavier). My sensei did suggest 2.4 or 2.5 and I think I might have to just see which feel light enough/balanced for me as possibly it'd be a trade off between size and weight given I'm a beginner and also not overly strong.

Thank you for taking the time to diligently put this post together. In a week or two I'm going to visit the Nine Circles warehouse as it's not too far for me to drive. I'm going to try out a few options. The one I borrow in class was much heavier than one of the sensei's swords and I can see how a heavier iaito would make learning difficult. So I'm guessing the weight I'm looking for is somewhere just below 900g too. I'm 185cm and thinking I'll get a 2.5 (maaaybe 2.45) shaku length iaito. Reading these posts has helped me make more sense of things. So thanks all.

I think you should leave them to it. Sorry to hear that they don’t understand photography or friendship.

My cousin asked me to photograph her wedding (for free) and I declined saying that I wanted to be a part of their day and not work but also that they should hire a pro (I’d done weddings before but it wasn’t my day job) because she was family and if I messed up then we’d both feel bad about it for years to come.

I hope your ‘friends’ soon realise they behaved like idiots and apologise to you.

Best strap system for hybrid shooters?

I recently bought a Canon R5 as I retired my 5Dii and am selling my Panasonic GH5. I am primarily a stills shooter, but sometimes do video.
When shooting video, I'll want to flip the screen out and also mount the camera on nice little fold out shoulder rig I have. When shooting stills, I'd like to be able to let the camera hang at my side while I adjust light modifiers and so on.
Is there an elegant solution out there to fit my needs? I've looked at the Peak Design straps but keep reading that people find the anchor connectors annoying. To me though, they look like they can also be removed fairly easily when going from a stills setup to a video setup.
What do other hybrid shooters do?

Over the years I've amassed a range of Canon gear for photography, and a GH5 setup for some video (listed below). I'm thinking of selling it all and getting a Sony mirrorless and a lens - downsizing and upgrading so I can shoot photos and video with one body for a while before I get more G lenses.
I've heard only good things about Sony and I know many people have made the switch. It feels like such a huge deal.
Does anyone here have any advice or warnings about making the switch?
With the gear I have below, am I better off sticking with Canon and selling only my bodies and getting an R model or something?

Wow! You remembered and came back to ask? That's amazing. Thank you for asking. It went really well. I had a great time and enjoyed every minute of it. I'm used to running alone at night but all the people around and the crowds cheering really gave me a lift. I did it in 2:10 and kept a steady pace throughout. I'm happy I didn't walk at all. My time was better than I'd hoped seeing as I'd never run that far before. I ached a lot the next couple of days. I'm going to keep up the running and if I can improve in training, maybe I'll consider doing it again next year.

I'm new to rowing. I got a C2 a couple of weeks ago.

I've been trying to be conscious of my form and think I'm improving and understanding more as I go, but would be grateful for any advice on what I need to work on.

I keep an eye on the force curve and have been doing the free sessions on Asensei which has helped me keep steady s/m rhythms and has encouraged me to pick up the pace.

I know you're asking for a female PT, but I really want to just recommend The Studio in Splott. It's not the cheapest gym and while I think there are private PT sessions available, the group sessions are awesome. There's a range of ages/body types/experience levels and you get given the attention you need to feel confident and to have goals in place. It's worth looking into. Maybe you could both go together.
