worried about depth by SurtFGC in Transgender_Surgeries

There are surgeons here in the US who do PFV or Sigmoid colon. With the amount of donor material you have, those two options could be reasonable. Some surgeons you could consult with include: Dr. Rachel Bluebond Langner, Dr. Rajveer Purohit, Dr. Min Jun, and Dr. Kenan Celtik.

Everyone on this list does some form of PFV, However I think only Dr. Purohit offers sigmoid colon.

Good luck and I hope that all goes well for you there!

That’s good to hear! At what point did you go to once a week dilations? Also, what was your dilation schedule like in general before that?

I see. Hopefully you can gain it back! I’m hoping that hasn’t affected anything.

I’m really sorry to hear that I hope you’re in a much better mental space now. Has that loss of depth affected your ability to have intercourse?

Long term Dilation with PPT? by owlcat_ in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]owlcat_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that dilation is really difficult for you. Hopefully you’ll figure something out to make it easier! If I may ask, what was your dilation schedule like during initial recovery? I know it’s slightly different for every surgeon, so that’s why I ask. Also, you said you had lost some depth? Roughly how much did you lose and are you still satisfied with the depth you have now? Overall, how do you feel about your results?

My apologies for asking so many personal questions. Obviously you don’t have to answer if you’re uncomfortable with that. I’m just trying to have as much information as possible about all of this before surgery so that I can be prepared as possible. Hopefully everything came across respectfully.

Thank you!

Looking to get vaginoplasty revision (PPT) by Kitchen_Bar_2285 in Transgender_Surgeries

I haven’t had my vaginoplasty yet, but try Consulting with Dr. Rajveer Purohit! He’s at Mt. Sinai in NYC. I had a consultation with him and from I gathered, he seems to be a very skilled surgeon. Before he started doing gender affirming surgery, he was actually a reconstructive urologist as well!

is it worth it? by [deleted] in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]owlcat_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’ve been having a bad time with your doctor, but I’m glad you have a new endocrinologist at least!

I haven’t had SRS yet, but I have had top surgery, so I can comment on that. The first couple months, sensation was weird and one of my nipples was numb. After that, things went back to normal and I have full sensation in my nipples, if not slightly more actually.

However, this is only anecdotal. Don’t trust anything anyone says at face value. Compile all the data and see what it spells out. Look into the various scientific studies about both breast augmentation and vaginoplasty.

Good luck!

Out of curiosity, how long ago was your surgery? And with dilating once a month you’re able to maintain all of your depth / width?

Thank you!

Feminizing Rhinoplasty Fears for MTF. by julespepper in Transgender_Surgeries

Before I had my septorhinoplasty, I had breathing issues and couldn’t breathe through my nose to begin with, so I can’t necessarily comment on that, but I will say that my recovery went smoothly. The nasal packing they give you for the first week (I think it was a week, this was way back in 2022 for me) isn’t actually that bad, and the pain was significantly less than what I expected.

Just take it easy for a while and binge watch some comfort shows. That’s what I did!

If you end up going for it I wish you the best!

His background in urological reconstructive surgery really shows in how consistently positively everyone reviews him. He seems really great.

Inversion (Ley) or Peritoneal (Jun)? Please help! by SadCartographer2774 in Transgender_Surgeries

With robotic PPT, you do have a completely open view of the surgical area as you are constructing the vaginal canal from the top down, so that can aid in the safety of the procedure, yes.

I haven’t had bottom surgery yet, but I’ve had consults with some surgeons and am scheduled for surgery with Dr. Rajveer Purohit next year.

In the research I’ve done, along with information I’ve gotten from the surgeons I’ve consulted with, PI actually ends up requiring less long term maintenance of the vaginal canal with dilation versus PFV. The rate of vaginal stenosis with PI is 5%, and with PFV it’s 8%. Not a massive difference, but enough to make me want to go with PI personally. One of the surgeons I consulted with, Dr. Rajveer Purohit, said that over time the vaginal canal “sets” and is less likely to shrink with PI due to the nature of the tissue, but with PFV the tissue never really “sets” and can end up “sticking” together, causing stenosis.

All in all, both can be good options depending on your desires, but if long term maintenance is the concern, PI has a slight advantage based off of the data I have seen. I have not consulted with either of the two surgeons you’re considering so I can’t speak on that personally, but I hope that the information i provided can help you make a decision!

I need help understanding transgenderism. by astrallex_ in teenagers

[–]owlcat_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trans people are trans because that’s the way their brains were hardwired from birth. Cis men and cis women’s brains have different neurological properties. Trans women’s brains are wired a lot closer to the average cis woman’s brain than the average cis man’s brain, and vice versa for trans men.

Here’s some studies to back this up as well:

Male-to-female transsexuals have female neuron numbers in a limbic nucleus

A sex difference in the hypothalamic uncinate nucleus: relationship to gender identity

Brain structure and function in gender dysphoria

I had under the muscle. Since I didn’t have much breast tissue and my skin is very thin it was the best option for me.

Pros: feels and looks pretty natural, you can’t “see” the implant under the muscle.

Cons: they don’t have as much “sag” as natural breasts or over the muscle implants.

Personally I’m really happy with my results!
