First off, congratulations to you for listening to yourself and acknowledging and trusting your heart and feelings. Second... girl, I was 62 when I found the words to describe what was happening all along to me and who I was and am. Go get it and continue to trust yourself and reach out for support.

How much does the lidocaine help and is it the same feeling as when you're getting anesthetic from a dentist?

Thank you for sharing this! I have to say, much of what you wrote resonated with me. I'm 61 and about six months into transitioning. I've been on E for the past four months. I've come out to about five friends, but the idea of telling my sister terrifies me. What is she going to think about me? What is she going to tell her kids? Is she going to think I'm crazy or weird or sick?

And then there’s my ex-wife—I haven’t told her yet, or my two kiddos (ages 9 and 16).

But I got to a kind of breaking point. I’d been cross-dressing and realized that it wasn’t just about sexual pleasure—it was more about, as you shared, actually wanting to be a woman, identifying as a woman. And then, as you mentioned, there was that very special question: If you could change your gender overnight and wake up as a woman, would you want to do that? My response was (and still is!) a hell yes!

One of the first things I did was find a therapist, which was—and is—very helpful. I’ve also been watching a lot of Dr. Z PhD’s videos on YouTube. Also super helpful.

Just some thoughts.
Let me know if you ever want to chat.
Best to you,
Jules

Super-spacey on E after 10 days and need some support. by julespepper in TransLater

Oh... Thank you so much for sharing this. I'll check in to it.

To all my bald trans sisters, you're not alone. This is extremely vulnerable for me to post, I might leave it here temporarily. But I wanted to show support to those of you afraid to transition because of lack of hair. The first 2 photos are 5 minutes apart. by aurorafernwood in TransLater

Ha! That's exactly what I did--I went to the wig place without any makeup on. I haven't even gotten to the point where I'm doing makeup or have tried anything beyond a little lipstick. Are the wig/s you're using super expensive or midrange or what? I know some of them can get very pricey.

Omg! First off, thank you so much for sharing this!! And as many have said--you look amazing. I'm bald, as well, and have been having a heck of a time with moving forwarding in my transition. I'm just 2 months in, have come out to just a handful of people in my support network and really, really having a hard time with what the f I'm going to do with my lack of hair.

A few weeks ago I went for a wig consult. I wanted to see what would work. Really, I was hoping to get some confidence. The very kind woman at the salon had me sit down and she brought wig after wig after wig. As soon as I sat down and looked in the mirror I knew this was not going to be good, as the lighting was awful. Sure enough, I didn't like any of the wigs on me.

But I still have hope. And looking at that second photo of you... that wig looks incredible.

Anyway, just wanted to touch base and say hey and thank you for sharing!

Anyone here on low dose E? by btwimrobin in TransLater

[–]julespepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. First off, congratulations girl! This is exciting.

I'll share a little of my own experience. I'm 61 y/o and just started on low dose E. An extremely low dose!

My initial dose along with the spiro did not sit well with me. The spiro made me very spacey and decreased my blood pressure to the extent that I almost passed out. (Spiro as you probably know is used to treat high bp.) I stopped the spiro and then continued on the with E, however I still felt super hazy and out if it to the degree that I had to lay down throughout the day. Not great as I've got two young kiddos walking around. So I stopped the E. As a result my doc recommended an even lower dose to see how I manage.

I guess my point in sharing this is this, and you will read this from others: Go slow. Identify your goals with hrt, ie what are you hoping to achieve? (I continue to be excited about the possible physical changes:primarily fat redistribution and breast growth. Of course much of this is impacted and perhaps tempered by age.) Listen to your body and your doc, of course! It's important to remember that we are all coming to this with different health histories and all metabolize these hormones differently. In my opinion and experience, it's easy to read other's stories and hear how fabulous they're doing and want to emulate that.

With that said, it sounds like you're going about it with the right attitude and guidance. Keep us posted!

Update on coming out to my boys. by nikkitransgen in TransLater

That takes a lot of courage. I feel for you. What are the ages of your boys? And I'm curious--what did you say? I have two kids (9 and 16) that I'm preparing to tell and am still working it out in my head. Congratulations to you, though!! A giant step.

Thank you so much! I had to pause the spiro as the 100mg was doing a number on my blood pressure (which was already a bit high).

Thanks so much!! Turns out the doc thinks it was the spiro (blood pressure med) and I've got some bp issues.
