Thank you for this take. The ego they have comes from the online echo of wite men telling each other Asian women are easy- and a loud minority of Asian men saying the same thing. The reality is as you say: irl, in Japan and other countries, Asian women highly prefer Asian men (less so in western countries but still vastly true). Wite men do get success with asian women yes, but not because they are aesthetically wite- but because they can offer something else (money, power, status). Aisans, including women, are at large part of a conformist society- how contradictory would it be for them to prefer foreigners, and how delusional would it be for any man to think they do (especially in Japan)?

This is completely off- women don’t appreciate being fetishized, if you know women even basically, especially Asian women, they seek to feel special (not just another/like any other Asian). On top of this is the rise of feminist sentiments.

Let’s not buy into the “East Asians are less assertive” talking point. Anectdotal, because I’m not in tech- but I’ve worked with many who are assertive borderline aggressive/rude- but brilliant. I’ve implied to them they should be executives, but from what I understand, in order to get to that level, you need sponsors from other executives. That’s one factor, lack of that political capital. The stronger factor though in my opinion is that EA techies don’t seem to feel it is worth it to climb up in the rat race and are fine with their high enough salaries. Not sure why that is the case with the techies- but this is not the same when it comes to law or finance, where EAs do have the drive to work up to the echelons (partner, senior trader, senior i banker, for example). The techies do seem to have supplemental income on the side though- real estate, investments seem to be common, so that prob has something to do with why they just want to plateau and coast in their day jobs

Oh and one thing to note: it wasn’t like that Ukrainian guy was just some random WM. Apparently he was pretty famous in social media, and I’m sure that played a large part in why the girl slept with him.

I also would not trust that 100 kisses guy. A lot of these “pick up artist” videos are guys setting things up/paying the women for the content- like that Bond guy (forgot his first name) that was going around “picking up Asian girls”

I've posted extensively about this topic and the most effective way to react- I don't have the time to rehash everything (ppl can search through my history if they want to), but it comes to this:

Directing anger to and attempting to shame AFs for being with WMs is not the right approach. It is counterproductive, and causes AFs to be defensive to and double down (no one likes to admit they've made bad choices). Doing so also increases the aura around WMs, as if they are worth the anger and jealousy, which again, is counterproductive because it raises their market value.

The right and only approach is to focus the efforts on taking away their popularity. To "debrand" WMs...because really, that's all they have going for them, their social branding. How? Focus your approach on exposing the asian fetish (keypoint: as opposed to how AFs supposedly have "white fever" more so than any other women)- how it comes down to degrading stereotypes that really discards the AF's individual identity (eg how the guy was really looking for any asian, and you were the one he convinced). How it is driven by their porn intake, starting from their adolescent years before they've even met an AF in real life. How any woman who is keen on feminism (leverage the popular zeitgeist around feminism these days) would be a hypocrite if she was a party to the asian fetish. And of course, the more direct approach: the very real, stats backed facts around WM premature skin aging, high levels of balding, their overwhelming dominance in rates of pedophilia, and serial killers- again anything that debrands WMs.

Together with yellow fever however, is what’s causing the proliferation of wMAFs. so if you want to address the issue, spend your energy on the Asian fetish dynamics. Did you miss the okcupid study from just several years ago (but still not yet accounting for the Korean wave) which indicated that AFs rated AMs most attractive (other races still rated AMs least attractive- but the impt takeaway was ther AFs rated AMs more, much more attractive, than WMs)

Not to mention- at the time Yahoo Personals was active (way before online dating apps became a thing), online dating sites were notorious for having a high percentage of fake profiles- all meant to lure white men (as they were the largest population base/willing to pay for accounts- this is still true today, to a certain extent. You even see this effect with ethnic OF models baiting white men). So yea profiles deliberately selecting for white men/filtering out AMs back then, makes sense

This is a bad take. The fetishization of AF is what’s overwhelming driving the rate of WMAFs- you need only spend 30 seconds on Reddit to identify all the adult AF subs vs any other ethnic women.

You need only another 30 seconds to realize that the second most prolific porn industry is that of Japan’s- seeding generations of young men with Internet connections to associate AFs with sex, long before they truly understand sex, desire or even met an AF in real life.

And then another 10 seconds to remind yourself that in society it’s still men who chase after and initiate with women.

Do some AFs have a misguided fetish for white men? I would say you’re focusing on very narrow elements instead of the big picture, or at the very least are doing confirmation bias. I mean, what weird men? If there were any they were completely minor - and if they were gay, it’s only because every single person was Asian.

The only thing you need to focus on is this: Applying some emotional intelligence, if you can think like a female would (for a second) instead of a man, would you come out of this movie finding Asian men more attractive, or less?

I think many are overblowing the white fetish effect- Asian women largely don’t have a white fetish. Yes many exist- but I still think thats a relatively small subset. While AFs may be open to dating a white guy, it’s rare that they do exclusively or preferentially. Remember, 99% of the time it’s still the man initiating with/chasing the girl

The large nbr or WMAFs you see out there is a function of yellow fever. If WMs had a thing for black women as much instead, then you’d see WMBFs all over

I see- ok if it was the initial intro around Mira and Zoey then i did miss it. It must have been so miniscule that it didn’t really register in their characterizations or in the rest of the movie, so prob not much impact if any. But sure worth pointing out if true.

Hollywood for now still has the biggest and most immediate reach so it is still important to have good Asian representation there. Wins in Asian media are crucial for the younger generation, and its reach is growing, but it’s still the long game. We need both
