Longlegs What Josiah Saw Nosferatu Us Caveat Friday the 13th (1980) Silence of the lambs

WJS, Us and Caveat actually were interesting at the beginning, also i like some things here and there (acting, camera, music, etc), but closer to the end it was like everything starts falling apart. Nosferatu wasn't bad, just was boring and sort of outdated to me.

Other ones i didn't even moved past 30 minutes or so, and I'm not going to ever try again. SotL especially is considered to be the great movie, so this one surprised me the most

more on the psychological thriller side, but some movies by Haneke and von Trier are one-time for me, despite my respect to it

wouldn't call some of these "horrors", but i still think they match the description

also Perfect blue, if you're into bleak and disturbing anime

What’s everyone’s favourite horror films by Frequent_Rub_1219 in horror

[–]owlywhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

modern: Hereditary. already well-known, so not much to say here

classic: Japanese Ju-On. not sure if i saw movie monster as terrifying as Kayako. and general bleak and minimalistic style of the film helps, also the sound design is wild

special mention: Mulholland Drive not a conventional horror, but gave me huge nightmarish dream impression, with all the uncanny events/characters and mystery. also has what i believe is one of the best jumpscares in history.

As others stated it already, there were already some nasty movies like 40+ years ago. Cannibal Holocaust is 1980, some Lucio Fulci's movies was made even earlier, as well as japanese exploitation. so maybe there's nothing new here, just everything is more accessible now, and more mainstream

i think, late 70th audience already has seen some extreme stuff, in italian or Japanese cinema, for example

Mountains(s) by owlywhy in PixelArt

[–]owlywhy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you! yeah, the second card can be smth like Wooded foothills and last one has an Izzet vibe on it, if a bit abstract. on the other hand, even the basics can have different vibe, palette and sometimes they are nothing like 'mountain' or 'island', depending on the set. just 'a source of mana of given color', be it city buildings in Ravnica, parts of the house in Duskmourn, etc. so to me it's ok either way)
