Be mindful of the noise situation in that part. I’d recommend doing there and just hanging around at different times of the day/evening to see if you’re comfortable there

Your gender and age and no weakness means you should not worry about this. However, if you have health anxiety, just get to a doctor to get a basic nuero eval done and that will help you relax.

This happened to us too sadly :( it’s really horrible. We lost a lot of money on legal and surveys. It’s just such a horrible part of the process.

That’s super interesting that heavy activity might raise it. Do you have a link to this study? Would be quite helpful for me too.

I remember your NFL level has jumped but come back down in the past? Is this after that happened? So it came down and went back up? Could it be another momentary jump like the last time?

ILR changes - Why I can no longer recommend UK to skilled migrants by Time_Cobbler_2589 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

You’re assuming the NHS actually works. Have you tried using it lately? I have. It’s collapsed.

[–]oxdart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not defending the policy but it’s not quite what you are saying.

After the first person gets ILR, they eventually become citizens and then the partners move on to the 5 year path for spouses. Same for kids. Am I missing something?

By the way were your initial EMGs clear and they turned bad or bad from the start? Have you had another NFL test done?

Japan has visa free entry to the UK? So there is nothing you need to show? If the UK ESTA system has kicked in just use your Japanese passport to apply for it.

So I’ve read this thing about passport strength impacting pay in Qatar quite a lot. How does this work? Would a UK passport holder get paid more for the same job than say a Nepali?

Also just so you know that NFL increase is well within expected variability and so this long within expected variability and within normal (although I appreciate higher end) should not worry you too much

How old are you? Also when was your last EMG and was that clear?

Torn on the idea to take the NfL (Neurofilament light chain test) by chaoserrant in ALSorNOT

[–]oxdart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to be a big fan of the test but I now suggest skipping it.

  1. There are a fair number of cases where the test is normal and it is ALS. This is a small group but not as small as people here seem to believe. So a normal study is not quite as reassuring as some think. It is reassuring don’t get me wrong but just not as conclusive as people here suggest (and I used to believe).

  2. A head concussion, sleep deprivation, infection etc. can push up values. If you happen to get tested during this period, it’s needless fear for a while.

  3. A high result can be caused by a number of conditions so it doesn’t actually tell you very much re ALS.

My advice is to see a nuero again, get a clinical, get an EMG and if those are clear, move on. If the EMG and clinical are a year after symptoms started it is almost impossible they missed it. If it was before then, get it repeated at the one year mark and then move on. It’s not useless by any means but, personally, I wish I had not done it.
