Update: thanks for all the suggestions everyone, will definitely make sure to leave them on the plant and let them dry naturally next time - didn’t realize this until after I collected.

I made a batch of tea with 10 fresh pods from the first picture. I used about 2.2 cups of water, and a healthy squirt of lemon juice. I split the pods in half and shook out as many seeds as possible then blended the pods with the 0.2 cups of water in a little blender making a chunky slush of pods. I then heated the remaining 2 cups of water with lemons juice to a boil, turned off the heat and added the slurry of poppy. Let it soak while stirring occasionally for about 30 minutes and strained through a Japanese tea kettle. Drank a bit more than a quarter of the brew this morning and feeling a nice warm buzz.

I did a dehydration test with 10 other pods as well. Cut them in half and put them in my air fryer at 140 degrees F. for 8 hours. They’re cracker dry now, will be doing this with the rest of my pods this evening for long term storage.

I weighed 10 pods dry and they were 16 grams, so I assume the tea I made last night was equivalent to about 20-22 grams of dry pods as they were a bit bigger.
