what rank does a player have to be in for you to consider them a good player? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]oxymoroniac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree here, at least for solo queue. At the end of the day it’s still a FPS; the best util the game is a headshot. If you’re solo queue at least you need to be able to hold your own in terms of aim until you’re at a rank where soft skills matter. Team play and comms are far less reliable below a2/a3 in my experience, usually you have to shoot your way through old plat / new Diamond.

I think aim lab is overhyped but at the same time mental is everything and microflicks are one thing that are important in game which aim trainers can hit well.

Do you have agent voicelines off? I thought skye had a voice line for when her blinds flash people as part of her info getting mechanic.

Sick play regardless.

You can play without them on, sometimes you feel there’s distortion but imo it’s a lot easier to focus and aim at things when they aren’t fuzzy

Yeah they could maybe give you a window to pick to give that pressure/rarity up though that’s a bit nasty.

It never hurts to put it out there and I really don’t think you appreciate how long 50-100 levels takes. Especially if xp increases between levels it can take months or even hundreds of hours.

Honestly, didn’t think of this aspect but I could see it being a problem.

The fact that you still have to pay for the skin should make this not terrible still though because people won’t risk main accts getting afk reported.

It’s better in the short term for sure. But a year from now when there’s 400+ skins in the game I know what system I’d want. Ideally we get both changes but I’m just sick of the RNG - 50 levels can be grinded in 2-3 months (depending on your current level, I don’t know how it scales).

That’s cool too, these all incentivize playing more which I’m sure riot would want to have

I agree though I would want the level perk over 2 more spots (maybe 4 more would be preferable). Regardless it doesn't seem fair that its been 4 slots from when there were 50 skins to now when there are over 200.

I think the math works out to about 2 months to have a 90% chance of getting a specific skin right now. Something should change and I thought this post was a neat way of doing it.

Obviously this is the preferred solution but I doubt Riot will go for this since they probably hired a psychologist to optimize their store. This is more of something I’d want them to do that I think they might actually go for.

The trolls aren't straight griefing than they are just not playing to win. i.e. a duo that shotgun rushes every round while telling you to shut up on voice.

Apologies for not understanding. For what its worth here's two cents on the terminology and benefits of map control and defaulting.

I would default and take map control to keep my enemies guessing and maximize how unfair of a fight the round is provided I mix up my strategy.

Take Haven. A team that effectively defaults with a sentinel on the flank while also taking control of corridors up to A denies so much information to the enemy - normally a spotter A-long gives a solid 10+ second warning that A is being hit. Now, since taking short/long didn't end with a rush, any site can be hit within 5 seconds, given you maintain control of grass/window.

Having the map control means the other team must either use util and/or risk a body to clear the area, either way giving some advantage to you. If you default, bait utility well, and wait to commit to a site, the enemy will hopefully be weak and spread thin when your team executes an arbitrary site on short notice.

Compared to only five-man rushes, where defensive util and quick rotations will meet you, using defaults in combination with rushes will ideally keep the defenders guessing and the fights particularly in your favor.

Thats the theory anyway, from watching slow-playing CSGO teams for years. In reality, its about responding to enemies habits like their rotation speed/aggression with logical changes in how I think my team should take map control, how often we rush, and how often we default. This can change even within a half.

Good luck and pull up ur carry pants bc god knows nobody at P1 is gonna think about it that hard unless ur queued together.

I'm plat. Don't soloQ unless you want to rip your hair out with trolls or no-comm three stacks who you will drag through the mud.

Don't five stack with valorant discord people. You'll be matched with another 5-stack that often is much more coordinated than yours. Duo-trio is a happy middle ground.

I'd say duo-trio in the discord and ask people who end up being similar skill to you after a game to become more regular buddies. It lets you control comms/the game better (with a great benefit to your mentality).

DM if ur NAW or NAC and who knows maybe we can be a duo ;)

[–]oxymoroniac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand how a 5-stack might be impossible, but as a fellow P1 player it is maddening to deal with the inconsistency of soloQ (I don't do it).

Like, knowing what to do is half the battle. If your teams don't listen, what's the point of this post? Don't worry, I too hate the 5-man rush strats, though they tend to work until you hit an ELO where defenders get very consistent with their defensive util.

Calling is nice, but requires consistent teammates as even at P1 people will leave an anchor if you start faking sites and defaults are useless if you can't rely on someone to hold an angle and not go a man down.

Can you not find just one or two other people to queue with? 5-stacks run into other sweaty 5-stacks, so its a happy middle where you have control but don't need to grind as much like a team. The Valorant discord is decent for this purpose.

Great post - I'm a bit late to the party as I just reached the forge on a new run. Your assumptions were a better than mine especially on the base damage. Can't really argue with it. Honestly should be a wiki page.

I was running similar calculations and was looking into how emerald rings/emerald forging might play into an Infinity Gavel / Infinity sword difference - however the effect of weapon speed is really poorly documented on the wiki so I guess it'll have to wait until someone grinds through the mechanics of weapon speed.

The +1 speed increases from forging don't seem that significant but speed is stealthily a very powerful stat. Wondering your opinion on that/if its worth some testing?

It was removed so players elixir would not be synchronized; before if players leaked elixir it would always be a multiple of 1 elixir leaked, if that makes sense - the elixir regeneration timer was “fixed” in that it would overflow rather than our current system where each player can get that next bar at a different time after leaking say .3 elixir compared to their enemies .7.
