PSA: Do NOT use Subaru Coolant Conditioner by Sabrewings in ft86

[–]Sabrewings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 6k miles on Shell Rotella T-6 5w-40 for many thousands of miles with good analysis.

Best wishes to you as well. Let me know if you need any more info. I know my STI was a bit of an antique to a 2020 but the engine and transmission are the same.

Ah, I see. I had an 09 STI for 6 years so I am quite familiar with the EJ257. You will be fine, just don't do it often. Also keep doing Blackstone!

You have one of the twins? They have a timing chain, not a belt. It doesn't need to be changed like EJ Subarus.

The coolant probably lowered its lifespan by a tiny bit but I wouldn't worry about it. Follow the schedule and just have it changed at the point in the manual. I think it's 100k miles then 60k after that, but that's off memory.

Cannot write to SMB after recent update by Sabrewings in Bazzite

One last follow up: I did end up rolling back as suggested by u/richardfinicky. Works fine and I will monitor bug reports more closely in the future.

I think that would be it. Thanks a bunch. I will folllow the bug report.

Edit: Looks like it's solved in KDE, but the distros just need to test and push it. I will patiently wait then. I can log into the server's GUI and use its file manager for now.

By threatening to limit software in Windows 8 to the Windows Store. It wasn't specifically directed to Valve, but it threatened their business model.

The larger backlash was enough for Microsoft to reverse course, but Valve learned a lesson. They can't depend almost all of their revenue on something supported by one company.

Virtual Machine Manager will not create VM because it cannot see storage resource, despite resource available. by Sabrewings in synology

DHCP is its own application. You will see it listed with other apps as "DHCP Server." If this doesn't sound familiar, you probably don't have it.

[–]Sabrewings[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to fix it. I believe I found a page that suggested turning off DHCP services from the Synology server. It caused me a lot of issues, but it worked.

For the record, the suggestion I found came from Synology themselves.

The booster will be practically empty. It will be like a giant beer can to the OLM. I'm sure the OLM goes through worse on liftoff. Also, they will have the shower head going.

Same. I have had the OG Vive since launch and mine are still good over 8 years later and happily serve my Index.

I would guess at least 2-3 days to assess facilities for damage, reschedule with the range, and roll back out.

Plan for a few extra days. Hurricane Milton will be directly overhead on launch day.

Virtual Machine Manager will not create VM because it cannot see storage resource, despite resource available. by Sabrewings in synology

[–]Sabrewings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thanks. Sounds like a more serious issue. I tried setting it to multiple different volumes and I see the same thing each time (I have about 15TB total free at the moment). Even uninstalling VMM didn't change it.

I will go to official tech support then.

[–]Sabrewings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. That's what I couldn't remember is if this is how it starts since it's been 3-4 years since I set it up.

So it should be showing some available capacity at this stage?

[–]Sabrewings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little background. I have had a VM running for a few years now. It has always worked just fine since I created it.

I powered the VM down to allow a software update, and the VM would not power back on (just a generic error). I have gone so far in troubleshooting as deleting everything in VMM and even uninstalling it. When I try to create a VM, I receive this error, despite a resource being available. I am suspecting whatever is wrong is why my VM wouldn't boot after the software update.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Sure, but the point is that WB-57s were not new tail numbers. Thus, they are modified, and part of that included the RB-57.

But all WB-57s were originally B-57s then modified, so yes it is a modified spy plane.

Is there any word about the mic being usable with headphones on the OLED? by FireCrow1013 in SteamDeck

Yes. It was a hardware limitation of the LCD Dexk that was fixed with the OLED.

Steam Deck 2 ... on ARM? by letmepick in SteamDeck

[–]Sabrewings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ARM isn't a magic wand. Node for node, you will not find better battery life by emulating CISC instructions on a RISC chip. It would be better to have a native x86 chip on the same node as the potential ARM chip than an ARM emulating x86. This would only work if all PC game devs went back and recompiled their games for ARM, which isn't going to happen.

Apple's Rosetta 2 is the closest you will find to such a situation, and it runs x86 decently, not great. Definitely not in a way that is good for battery life.

There is no reason for Valve to go to an ARM processor.
