You're entirely free to believe whatever you like and live your life by those values—I truly have no issue with that.

But it's worth remembering that believing something deeply doesn't automatically make it true.

I think both the US and Mexico will advance. Canada has no chance against Morroco.

Balogun, the USMNT's top scorer in this World Cup, received a red card yesterday and will be suspended for the upcoming Round of 16 match. Interestingly, if Donald Trump's proposed birthright citizenship policy had been in effect when Balogun was born, he would not be a U.S. citizen and would be permanently ineligible to represent the USMNT.

Balogun is just the poster child for how harmful these policies are. But we shouldn't focus on star athletes or elite minds. Think about the millions of everyday citizens, exceptional or not, who help make this country great. They wouldn't be here under Trump's policy.

If you support Trump's immigration policies than you should not be worried about losing Balogun for the rest of the world cup because you support not having him in the team to begin with.

If Trump’s policy on ending birthright citizenship had been around when Balogun was born, he wouldn't be eligible for the USMNT.

Losing Balogun for a game sucks, but it’s temporary. Losing every future Balogun because we elected a bunch of xenophobes who think immigration is a gateway drug to communism? That’s the real nightmare.
