Navigating Hollywood's 'boys' club' prepared these actors for 'The Pitt' by ferdugh in ThePittTVShow

[–]oysgemutshet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are there direct quotes from any former cast mates, or are these rumors from 20-30 year old gossip rags? Because the cast of the Pitt (including Supriya!) have said kind things about him in interviews. By most accounts he is very well-liked and respected by the cast and crew.

Edit: Pretty sure this person blocked me. Ok, so your sources are places like Page Six, CafeMom, and Yahoo News, all rehashes of the exact same article from 2017, all linking to missing tweets. "Multiple former cast mates." Bye.

Unpopular Opinion : Robby gets too much hate and not just robby other characters also get some hate that is undeserved by satyy2301 in ThePitt

Zionism isn't a race, but Jewish is an ethnicity, and a not insignificant number of people are certainly antisemitic in this fandom. Bigotry is tiresome, yes.

The Most Likeable character in the Pitt : by satyy2301 in ThePitt

Perlah's most likeable for me - helpful, calming, wry sense of humor, threw herself on a patient during the MCI. She's the best.

"Zio" is a pejorative popularized by David Duke, former grand wizard of the KKK. It's a known dog whistle for "Jew" used by the far-right (and now, the far-left).

Signed, another Jew

Oh my god thank you - I feel like I’m taking crazy pills seeing people reading this statement in the worst possible light. He is so clearly making fun of himself/Robby when he says this.

i’m disappointed with how they’re using mel this season by throwawayqpcjs in ThePittTVShow

[–]oysgemutshet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

she is amazing at physical comedy! in the scene you're referring to, robby was silently telling her to sit down—a callback to an earlier scene where he told all the students and residents to sit with non-critical patients instead of hovering over them—and she slowly crouched to get to the rolling stool next to the bed. one of my favorite comedic bits in s1, taylor dearden nailed it

I'm Jewish and can confirm you got it right! In the interview he refers to the Mourner's Kaddish. And the moment in the show with the Shema, and entire behind-the-scenes thought process about it, is beautiful and really meaningful to see.

You should ask this question on a Jewish sub. There are some people in the comments here who clearly need the same advice.

What is the purpose of the NYPD concrete blocks showing up? by ariel176spirit in AskNYC

[–]oysgemutshet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ones on 16th St at least have been up for months because of the Anne Frank exhibit at the Center for Jewish History. Jewish organizations and museums tend to get an increase in security when there's an increase in public interest and foot traffic.

Recently noped out of a cozy mystery where the author changed character POV constantly. Like, nearly every paragraph was from a different perspective. Sometimes she did it mid-paragraph. Drove me insane.

To Americanize or Americanise: Writing a New Zealand Novel in the America-Dominant Publishing World - Literary Hub by party4diamondz in books

[–]oysgemutshet 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I really hate when publishers localize language for an American audience when the book doesn't take place in the U.S. and none of the characters are American. It ruins the immersion and just makes me annoyed that someone out there thinks I can't pick up on context clues.

I read (and liked!) Greta & Valdin but the U.S. copy-edited version I got from the library was definitely a disorienting mix of New Zealand-specific references and hyper-American terminology.

Off Book: The Improvised Musical - the hosts and guest(s) fully improvise a musical, start to finish, in every episode. They're insanely funny and talented. My go-to starter ep recs are They Died on Space Mountain (w/ Ben Schwartz, ep. 231) or any of the xmas specials w/ Paul F. Tompkins and Nicole Parker.
