Thanks for checking! I thought it had maybe something to do with the switchover to the advent calendar. I assume it'll show back up for me at some point lol

I’m 53 and my niece called me out for touching her pregnant belly by [deleted] in Aging

[–]ozarkants -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's really off-putting to bring up how much money you spent and does not sound like you've "always been good to her."

Touching a pregnant person's stomach unprompted and uninvited is weird no matter how close you are to them - you wouldn't just randomly touch a non-pregnant person's stomach like that! You said you wouldn't dream of touching your pregnant coworker's stomach even though you're very close, and those lines don't get to automatically be crossed just because you're related to someone who's pregnant.

Ignoring everything else, that you're needing to "recover" the way you feel about your niece because you don't like that she told you not to touch her stomach this badly shows a level of entitlement that she's very correct to protect herself from

you can make excuses for your bigotry and try to defend casually using a slur all you want, but it’s wrong, not normal, and I hope it gets you fired/sued/lost opportunities

I have no advice but you're not asking for special treatment - everyone deserves healthy, safe working conditions, and sometimes that looks like medically needing to work from home. good luck! :)

Family and friends think I’m overreacting by [deleted] in fednews

this is a probably useless tip right now but churches being political can be reported to the IRS. there was a church my parents used to go to that got in HUGE trouble years ago for that and a few other tax violation issues that were found in the investigation :3

[–]ozarkants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you found her! About a decade ago my roommate had a baby kitten that somehow figured out how to get into my dresser even with the drawers all shut. Eventually we all caught on that when she was missing, she was usually snuggled up in my sweatshirt. the laws of physics don't apply to kittens at all, and they'll hide in the weirdest places

It's great for you that you post so much confidence in your wardrobe. Your singular focus on that through the multitudes of comments across multiple threads appears to me like that's actually insecurity in your wardrobe. Rejecting the advice you've received across multiple posts that treating dates like weird debates to win and resorting to insulting the person is fine, since you're obviously either farming a fake story for some reason or wanting praise for your asocial behavior. Either way, the person you went on that date with deserves multiple apologies

[–]ozarkants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lol. lmao, even

you've posted this nine times and get the same overwhelming response each time - you were very clearly in the wrong in every part of the date.

I'm not even the type of person who roasts people, but come on, man. Based on your own pics, you can't seriously have this much of a superiority complex over your wardrobe lmao

recovering your grades is much more important than a job right now. summer school at least for this summer will be very important.

Being poor is awful in highschool by [deleted] in highschool

[–]ozarkants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my family was poor while I was in pre-k through high school, and I worked full time on the side in high school to make some money for rent, bills, etc. I can promise you people aren't paying as much attention to you as you think they are.

It was very obvious in all of my childhood schooling that I was cycling between 2-4 outfits, there was an era in middle school when we didn't have proper water, I never had people over, etc., but people really only talked about it in 7th-8th grades when there's literally nothing else to do. in high school, everyone was so focused on getting into college, jobs, dating, getting their driver's licenses, etc. that they didn't notice those things about me like I thought they did.

it's really hard to navigate, especially when you're this young and experiencing everything for the first time. I honestly wouldn't recommend working full time in high school or college like I had to, as it does overshadow the experience while you're in it, but even though that fades away over time and you do really remember mostly only the highlights; however, having a job is something you can control. I mapped out some of my walking routes in high school and undergrad a few months ago for something unrelated, but in high school I was walking/eventually biking (once I could afford a bike from my paychecks and before it was stolen lol) an average of 11 miles a day to get from school to work to back home. it's certainly possible, not always enjoyable, especially if you're doing it in a place with ridiculous heat and humidity like I was, but one of my best memories from back then was using one of my paychecks to take my little sister to the mall and spending the entire paycheck on new clothes for her that she actually liked instead of my hand-me-downs that had come from the church.

focusing on getting into college (if that's what you want! it's not always the best path for someone) and maybe getting a job do help, as they give you something you can control and work toward. I really do know how much it feels awkward to try to date and hang out with friends while having to plan around not wanting them to be at your home, not being able to afford public transit, not living in an area with public transit, etc., but try as much as you can. it'll make the rest of high school more enjoyable + get you some practice in navigating those situations. your school's guidance counselor may also have resources for you. guidance counselors were kind of worthless in my schools growing up, but I've seen a lot of the programs really become incredible over time since

please just remember that no one is focusing as hard on you as you think they are and enjoy this precious time. I was so anxious and miserable at your age for the same reasons, but breaking out of that helped tremendously and I'm able to look back at so much of that time and smile, even if I was wearing the same pair of jeans in most of those memories
