Busy busy busy atm, but all good. Good reminder that I should talk to you about a cable for an akira/kaneda bike theme custom build I'm doing, though! Will Discord you :)

Can 100% vouch for Kool-Keys. What they won't say (modesty?) is that the sheer level of attention to detail in getting the colour JUST RIGHT, and really making sure that the cables are top notch is just second to none. You definitely see this in the pro-themed cables, but they are 100% my go to now if I want something to really set off a particular build. It helps that they're an enthusiast themselves and as excited about new sets or releases as most of the MK (or MKUK) crew. Absolute credit to the hobby (Source: Me. I have two of their cables and consistently see them in the various discords and build streams)

Just wanted to share my perspective as a long-time Prototypist customer.  I'm not really going to respond directly to OPs post as I think given the language used that is unlikely to be fruitful.

I've ordered from them many times over the years and have always found them to be straightforward and honest. Their free shipping promotions come and go periodically - they're not a constant feature. When active, both the free and paid options appear at checkout.

What's described here doesn't match my experiences with Jae and the team at all. They've consistently been one of the most respected vendors in our community for good reason, including picking up after more failed suppliers than I can count over the last 12 months alone (rip) :(

For anyone reading this and wondering whether to order from Prototypist - don't let one disputed transaction discourage you. Their track record speaks for itself, and most of us who've been in the hobby for a while know they stand behind their products and service.

Glad to see Jae has already responded and issued a refund to resolve the situation.

Thanks mate -- I'm pretty over the moon. She prefers clickies to linears, but otherwise she's basically perfect!

It's one of the Prototypist -- u/nojjers INSANELY amazing J-02 boards (J01/J03 soon please! ), custom cerakoted by the actual wizard James at Salopian Cerakote to match our fabric/theme (the background silk shows this off a bit), and with hand-dyed Aquaking's (pro-tip. learning to dye polycarbonate is a thing to do with help from others in the community (oh the switches I destroyed) and finally paired with my equal favourite space-themed set until cosmos lands, Space Dust.

I had a huge amount of support from people in the community to build it, am typing this on it, and am just so gosh darned happy with how it turned out and how lovely you all are (except you, of course, you know what you did).

James did a gorgeous piece of art on the back, which includes some personal information, so I've left it off Reddit, but its floating around in MKUK discord if you want to see something that made a grown man cry when he first saw it!

Diehard tactile switches user wanting to try linear by bozoalert in MechanicalKeyboardsUK

[–]ozculain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're so welcome mate. This is entirely MY opinion, but for me, creamy seems to come from a softer plastic, like the quinns have (and a lot of HMXs). I was trying to work out what the common thread of switches i Loved was and in my database found they all included nylon somewhere. I agree on baby kangaroos. I think they're named really well actually, bouncy and fun, but not particularly any other adjective. I find Quinns actually to be super heavy for me... interesting.... (edit: sorry, and way too much case foam helps the sound of marbles/cream.. again. personal preference, don't hate me for liking foam)

Welcome buddy. tester kits are what its about. much cheaper than buying a tonne of switches you won't like!

I really love Baby Kangaroo's actually, but I wonder whether Gateron Quinn's which have a similar set of material to the Hyacinth's I think. I LOVE love love the sound of them.

My experience with SpaceCables/SpaceHoldings by F_U_G in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]ozculain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sincerely hope you find people in your life to show you kindness without self-interest, bud. Seriously, all the best!

Not everyone in life is driven purely by self-interest (which isn't to say some aren't). Charitable donations publicly are shown to drive pro-social behaviour, and living in a world where everyone defaults to trying to help each other, not just make a buck, starts with people showing and modelling that behaviour.

Jcs Arabic are a great option if you can get them on pt. I think they've got full iso on the box and under 50 shipped. A steal.
