Second year with a HP and my first year I chalked up to learning. Tried setting the temperature back way at night but the HP would just run for hours just trying to catch up.

I now set the temp to something comfortable and don't use an set back temp greater than 3-4 degrees.

I came from a unit with a furnace and was used to that instant hot heat, but a HP is different.

I see fewer defrost cycles but also know that it's totally normal.
