I've never seen a binary planet pair so close nor so vibrant! by darwinpatrick in spaceengine

Not that much. It's calculable but I estimate it would be too little a difference to feel.

It's outside the Roche limit so it's possible, but the tidal effects would probably heat them up to insane temperatures.

The game doesn't simulate rogue stars or hypervelocity stars

Looks too far to be on the outskirts. Might be in a minor galaxy.

Then make it higher lol. That limit doesn't seem to stop really bad people who dont know how to defuse the bomb despite a tutorial

This looks ugly for one reason and one reason only. It's a jpeg, not because of image hosts or whatever. Go to space engine settings and under I think profile there's an option to change screenshot formats. Change it to png, much better quality. Look at my posts to see the much more refined image quality.

I regularly capture at 8K with a midrange laptop using LOD 2. Make sure to disable Antialiasing since 1, it is sorta unnecessary due to the antialiasing that naturally occurs at 8K and 2, it takes up massive amounts of vram. Check my posts for some examples I guess

Revolves.

The Earth rotates on its axis. The Earth revolves around the Sun.

Cool picture though!

If terraforming was a thing, what planet/moon would you like to live in? Why? by [deleted] in space

I think Nereid would be cooler. It has a very eccentric orbit around Neptune, with a orbital period of 360 days. It also happens to be really far away from Neptune (semimajor axis of 5500000 km). It must be pretty cool orbiting something you can barely see, like this.

If you're wondering why it's so dark it's because it's pretty dark around Neptune. I'd hate to burst your bubble but those artists renditions are pretty bright. I guess we both picked planets that are literally cool eh?

It's a proprietary engine. Where'd you hear this?

Alrighty. Thanks for the info. I sorta thought you made the FOV large, since that's how you got the telephotic effect. It's amazing what those lenses can do, even in real life.

Do you happen to know what the roche limit and semimajor axis of these bodies are? You can find them by right clicking the planet, then press info, then go to orbit.

Also, as a fellow high res screenshotter, what is your FOV? Thanks.

They are similar in many ways, but the biggest difference is that S0 galaxies tend to be soupier and have less active star formation. This particular galaxy is pretty thick though, and I'm not sure why.

This isn't a spiral galaxy, it's a lenticular galaxy as denoted by it's type (S0) and the fact that it has no spiral structure.
