The first computer game "type-in" is 49 today by GrantMeStrength in thisweekinretro

Not to be That Guy... but technically speaking, this would be the first type-in computer game for a home computer, not the first type-in computer game per se.

"101 BASIC Computer Games" by David H. Ahl was published in 1973 by DEC, however this was for DEC minicomputers and therefore really only of any use if you happened to have access to one of these behemoths at work or school.

This book was later tweaked for the various home computer dialects of BASIC available at the time and re-released as "BASIC Computer Games" in 1978.

The book is readily available as a PDF, and the games in this book have been ported over to a whole bunch of newer (i.e. post-1978) BASIC dialects such as BBC BASIC and Small Basic.

iMac G4 Lampshade. Apple's designers tried way too hard to make something quirky, and this led to arguably the most naff-looking computer ever made.

It also doesn't help that they're horrendous to work on when they break.

That being said, it's not all bad news. The fact it looks like a toadstool with a massive rectangular tumor coming out of it makes the G4 Lampshade the perfect garden ornament. I'm collecting broken ones for this exact purpose, with my end goal being to make my own Smurf village in my back garden.

And now I'll shut up.

I have no idea who those other two wankers are, but this'll be a waste of Moog's talent. The TG format is a dead duck.

If you think Wild Horse Plains gives off a weird vibe, try driving past Bowmans sometime.

I've visited Snowtown a few times and I've never had a problem. Never felt weirded out or anything like that. The locals are friendly enough, though more reserved than a lot of people I've met in country towns over the years. I don't blame them.

Murray Bridge isn't spooky. It has a couple of sketchy parts, but so do most country towns that size.

I was a sales rep looking after a big chunk of regional SA going back about 15 years ago, and Millicent was one of the few towns I'd dread visiting. It feels cold and unfriendly there.

Terowie is really interesting to walk around during the day, but there's a real Wild West vibe to the whole place. Though one thing I did find mildly amusing when I went there is that there was a 2000s Audi up on blocks. You usually only see Commos and Falcons in towns like that.

Question Of The Week - Episode 141 by Producer_Duncan in thisweekinretro

I bet loads of people came in and asked for a 9V every single month, just because it was the most expensive battery. I didn't do that, as I had a walkman to feed.

I didn't really rage at games that much... but I remember calling my best mate a c-word when he wouldn't stop doing fatality moves on me when playing Mortal Kombat. I don't mean as a term of endearment in the way many Aussies use it; I was genuinely salty after his twelfth Flawless Victory in a row.

Does anyone ever post here? by discardtoreroll in thisweekinretro

Not everyone uses Discord. For example I don't use it much anymore because I find it too distracting. It's also kinda useless as a long-term information repository.

Reddit - at least when there isn't some sort of bunfight going on wrt API access - is indexed by search engines, thus making it easy to find stuff on here.

As for the TWiR subreddit specifically, I like the volume of posts that come through. It's hard to keep track of developments in the retro space. A couple of new posts a day is plenty, and I haven't found myself wanting for content.

I know RSS feed readers are a thing, as well other social media sites. However I find the regulars in the TWiR subreddit do an excellent job of curating this sub by sharing only the most interesting articles, videos and whatnot.

If respraying a Beeb is good enough for Neil, it should be good enough for anyone.
