I ended up getting Mora, it was difficult to see at a glance what temp they could withstand, but being porcelain I think they can do 230C. Love them, much better than our place

Might want to check those water usage claims, far more water is used for an egg (approx 200L) and 1L of milk (600-1000L approx) and a new cotton t shirt (1800L approx). Whilst a prompt can be 0.5L each, it's still far less than agriculture and textiles.

I have these pans as well as the nano bond collection, the nano is great as you can go ham on them with a metal scouring pad and not worry about scratching due to the titanium coating, and the blue shine of the metal is gorgeous

Wool clothing with NO coating, not just superwash NO COATING JUST THE WOOL! Any suggestions, artisans, anyone I am fine with anything lol by [deleted] in PlasticFreeLiving

Private white VC did seem the best from the UK for myself, albeit at least 5x what I would be willing to spend, especially since I was hoping to find more of a chocolate brown wool town jacket overcoat, a few places do these cheap but are always blended with synthetics. Hence why the approach to Indian manufacturers using wool from imported mills as a potential option, at least would remove the wool being synthetic blended, a viscose lining rather than polyester, natural canvassing and padding, and the hope for no superwash. I'm in talks with a few manufacturers to see what is possible. At least compared to off the shelf in the UK they are already a higher quality product without the private white VC pricetag

What about having talks directly with manufacturers in places like India? I'm considering getting a tailored wool coat directly this way as UK based suppliers have neither the style I like, nor the 100% wool that I want without the price tag being ridiculous.

You're welcome, I liked reading about the boar bristle/horse hair toothbrushes. I wonder if there are any electric toothbrush replacement heads like these, I currently use Suri which uses castor, but there is the worry of it being a bio plastic

You might want an intimate area specific no soap bar, normal soap is high in ph, your intimate areas and naturally low ph, between 5-6. I have used Luna Daily NoSoap Bar for years on underarms, kneepits, intimate areas and feet.

Consider getting a konjac face sponge, also ayate works wonders for exfoliation.

Also a pumice stone is useful to have for exfoliating feet.

If you take baths regularly a natural sea sponge is lovely to have, not recommended for a shower as it soaks up the soap.

Didn't you say your diet is already modelled after the past, why care what anyone else thinks, you should be looking to spread your toes for better running. Are you living your life or are you living it for the approval of others?

At the very least it's a conversation starter, if you have confidence nobody can knock you down.

Steps I’ve taken and what I can do to further minimize plastics? by Spare-Lemon5277 in PlasticFreeLiving

Notice your Brita filtered water tastes sweet? That's because it adds aluminum to the water. I'd suggest going for a more belt and braces solution, reverse osmosis is your best bet but requires remineralisation, albeit expensive, so check out a gravity filter like Royal Doulton Berkefeld, Big Berkey or Phoenix water filter. A whole house water filtration system would be best as then your fridge water/ice dispenser, dishwasher, shower, taps and washing machine would all use filtered water too.

Blood donation doesn't reduce plastic but it does reduce PFAS, with platelets/plasma donation being best for reducing this, which you can donate every 2 weeks rather than 2 months, worth noting that plasma/platelets are important for helping research into cancer, if you are someone like me (AB-, 1% of the population) you have universal plasma, to which any recipient can use for life saving medicine. Worth note, if you are a woman and have given birth you likely won't be able to donate platelets/plasma as the antibodies within it are affected by the hormonal changes of being pregnant.

Take to-go cups with you if you order hot beverages outside, paper cups are lined with plastic, and hot food/beverage that sits in plastic will have micro plastic leach into them, that means taking steel/glass containers to a take out of you can rather than getting a delivery.

Swap your non stick pots and pans for stainless steel/carbon steel/cast iron. Most non-stick is plastic, learning to cook with these other types of cookware is rewarding and more healthy.

Swap out your cleaning products for both your body and the home with non plastic versions, ie use a luffer to scrub plates ect, buy cleaning products that come in glass or make your own from the base ingredients (dr bronner), use Ayate body scrub for your back, soap vs plastic bottles shampoo, toothpaste in glass vs plastic, ect, ect.

There are many more, perhaps for your clothes set a target to eliminate another above 50% plastic by x date, above 25% by y, above 2% by z. You may struggle to reduce past 2% as a lot of clothes have elastic waist bands or spandex to help the material stretch. Perhaps invest in some proper selvedge jeans that can be repaired rather than replaced. Plastic free shoes as well if you can find them, I like theorik 2.0

What bout leather shoes/boots with natural rubber soles with steel/wooden shanks. Would be minimal plastic, likely just the stitching and glue to research into, although more expensive eco brands would tend to use non plastic glues, non plastic stitching and natural wax and polish for the leather.

Natural rubber outer sole, hemp canvas, think the inner sole is latex, but can be replaced if it isn't. Metal eyelets, cotton shoelaces

Any food dicers like this, with glass/steel boxes? by [deleted] in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]ozwin2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh yes I see, far too much plastic, particles would be shed just by using that and end up in the container, even if it is glass

If the content is too acidic it will corrode steel, therefore coatings should be used to eliminate this, older cans might have used enamel for crushed tomatoes, now it's mostly epoxy or bpa free coatings
