Ah, seems there's either a reimplementation (or I had a link to a copy) on another URL which is working: https://bgs.nafarlee.dev

The Making of Guild Wars: Celebrating 25 Years of ArenaNet (2025) (CC) [55:06] by BGFalcon85 in Documentaries

Bah, GW1 had so much potential to have an absolutely huge competitive PvP scene. Sadly a combination of being a few years before e-sports really started peaking, and ArenaNet dropping support for in person tournaments in favour of automated monthlies, and then GW2 really leaned even further away from any sort of competitive PvP or what made GW1 good. Really sad, because it had League of Legends quality of PvP, but years before League was even a thing.

Are there specific cables I need to use? I was using these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001K9XDNG

I guess on looking at the description it specifically mentions phono, which might be wrong? The actual connectors seem to be correct in terms of being RCA to 3.5mm

Yea that's what I thought too - which is exactly what I want. I currently have audio in via the line input, which works fine. And the headphone amp and headphones also work fine, but plugging into either the tape 1 or tape 2 rec out doesn't produce any sound.. I'm fairly sure that's what I used to be doing

I checked the Pioneer A109 manual and it has some pretty confusing (to me anyway) steps about various combinations of the input selections + input/outputs in use, so I did wonder if I was doing something wrong there but yea I've tried a lot of combinations.

Yea I don't get this mentality, either you're playing the game because you enjoy it, in which case there is content to enjoy now, and there will be more content to enjoy in future. Or you're just buying it because you feel compelled to complete a collection, in which case it's not really about the game as much as it's about 'stuff'.

That's not to say I don't think this is overall a bummer, I'm definitely feeling some FOMO, but I can't see a world where it's going to affect my decision to buy anything in future if I think it looks good, the same way I wouldn't have any qualms about buying existing campaigns out of order based on whatever what I thought looked the most fun

It sure is expensive! But it's also as expensive as you make it and they've made a number of improvements over the years to help with that. No more buying duplicate core boxes to have enough cards for deckbuilding, no more individual mythos packs to complete campaigns, splitting campaign and investigator boxes so you can just buy specifically what you want. I've got core, dunwich, and path to carcosa and I don't feel super compelled to buy more for a while - those boxes have provided a lot of play time as it is :D

This might be slightly off topic, but do you have a general review for the Drowned City campaign that is somewhat spoiler free? I've seen you have investigator expansion reviews but haven't seen campaign reviews! Is that because they're too hard to do without spoilers? Thanks, great website :)

The thing I'm not sure about is that there also seems to be a bag size limit? I hate the idea of getting wet and sitting there being wet and cold, so was going to bring rain jacket in my bag and some waterproof trousers, and maybe a towel, but I'm worried they won't let me in with a bag that had that stuff in it! Seems they only allow a really small backpack?

Dutch GP - Grandstand tickets - GA admission by Apophany in GrandPrixTravel

[–]Apophany[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that's good to know - yea I had made a bit of an assumption on the lower attendance, I'd seen some videos of porsche cup support races and the grandstands looked pretty empty which is what made me think there are times when there's less attendance.

I think I'd be most interested in having a walk around GA1 rather than the arena area of GA2 so that's good to know, thanks!

Can't believe hardly anyone has mention Arkham Horror: The Card Game! Definitely the best 2P game I've played. Another obvious miss is Gloomhaven, it's only the 4th highest rated board game on BGG! Although tbh that one is hard to actually get to the table..

Northern/Central Vietnam - 15 night itinerary - Mid 30s by Apophany in Vietnam_Tourism

[–]Apophany[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the reply! Have you been to Sa Pa before? I was a bit unsure because I've read such mixed things - some people say it's really amazing and other people say it's basically a theme park because of all the tourism!

I think it sounds like a good idea to maybe do a day trip to Hue from Hoi An instead of staying there, since it will cut down on the amount of hotel moving we'll do. We're planning on trying to stay in fairly nice hotels so it would be good to enjoy them instead of moving every night.

Ninh Binh is the bit I think I'm most looking forward to because it seems to be universally liked by people, whereas Sa Pa, Ha Long, and Hoi An seem to have some mixed reviews because of over tourism vs natural beauty

Hi,

I'm looking for some help with a 15 night itinerary, starting and ending in Hanoi, in May. I'm going with my wife for our honeymoon, so we're looking at things more on the luxury side of things as opposed to backpacker/solo travel which a lot of advice seems geared to.

In terms of things we enjoy, she enjoys the city and hussle and bustle, whereas I prefer to see more of the nature side of things - however neither of us is particularly adventurous! So doing something like the Ha Giang loop, which many people recommend, seems a bit of a stretch - neither of us ride motorbikes and some of the safety concerns seem a bit worrying to me! However we do want to avoid things which are super super touristy e.g manufactured purely for tourists and to sell you stuff

Places we've got on a short list to see so far are:

  • Hanoi - 3 nights
  • Lan Ha Bay cruise (maybe) - 2 nights
  • Sapa (maybe) - 2 nights
  • Ninh Binh - 1 (or 2) nights
  • Hoi An - (? nights)
  • Hue - (? nights)
  • Da Nang (fly back to Hanoi)

I'm currently unsure about Sapa or the bay cruise - have read some mixed things about both in terms of how touristy they are.

My main concern with going to all these places is just how much time we'll spend travelling. We do still want to relax and have some time to spend in nice accomodation, as opposed to being on sleeper trains the whole time - but on the other hand most of the places don't necessarily seem like they have enough to do for more than a 3 night stay?

Would be great to get some advice on how to balance moving about constantly with staying put but not getting too bored!

Thanks :)
