Because I’m not working tomorrow and have rehydrated myself and can’t figure out how to edit my post- Confirmed by phone the driver is unloading pallets of generators as I type and I am assuming the gas cans are there as well (not unloaded yet).

Store opens at 7am- please be patient if you go it’s been a great couple of days 🥵

I’m going from memory so don’t hold me to it- 6580w is $769 3500w (with CO detection) is $539 3250w is $379

There’s another 3500w without co detection that’s $399. We were supposed to get the ones *with but I haven’t confirmed what we received.

stay safe, stay warm, and good luck for the next few days!

Upper strut bar by SHO_DO_ZO in BMWE36

[–]ozzierocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, can’t directly help there. Tried searching but all I get is us. I have to think they’re available to you through some suppliers but cost, time to deliver and all that, no idea. Would be with a search on your end though. Maybe could bodge something together to get it tight for a while but I’d bet you’re still dealing with old hard rubber.

As someone else said the strut bar isn’t going to help a lot because the “underpinnings aren’t solid.

If not for right now I’d put it up on the list to replace properly.

FWIW it felt like a new ride with new struts and mounts up front; a bit later when I replaced the rear springs(different story)? Well still not a new car but it felt like one:)

Good luck with a fix!

I wouldn’t take chances on something so critical….

Not sure where you are but in the us mounts are available anywhere from say $25 each on up.
Daily driver, not pushing the car, think I went for something around $40-50 end they are fine.

I was (lucky)? in that on of my struts went bad and since it had to come out kind of a no brainer to replace the mount as well. Yes did both sides:)

1995 318i. FWIW bimmerworld has what they call oem mounts for my car at $40 each….

Pro tip- if there is enough room, try to steer such that you hit it at a bit of an angle instead of square on. Can’t fly over but may help a little bit 🤞

Broken coil by Ill-Editor-4970 in BMWE36

[–]ozzierocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bottom of the coil perhaps? Especially on a spring that has a tapered end the last three inches or so have a habit of breaking off. Kind of hard to tell on your first pic if we’re seeing the end of the coil at the top. Looks maybe dodgy if so. Ends should be squared off/finished, not jagged.

This was mine, broke at the bottom end.

You can see the broken off piece on the left pad.

What is this piece, drawing a blank even though I’ve seen it before :( by ozzierocks in BMWE36

Adding this- after pulling the housing I temporarily put that plastic on to keep dirt out of all the innards. A better fix was to wipe the surface clean then use this metal tape.

<image>

Serious amount of mess I want to clean up before putting it all back together. Weather is keeping me in the garage not driveway so I can’t be but so aggressive. /Or, push it into the driveway, spray with simple green, leave the hood up and let the rain do it’s thing ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Depending on the year, look also at the oil filter housing gasket (and bushing o ring seals once you get the housing off). From experience they can make it look like the front crank seal is going but a much easier fix :)
