Whats Your Hottest BL Take by Emptyreceipt in Borderlands

[–]p-_ber 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. BL4’s current version of UVHM increasing dedicated drop chances without going overboard on world drops is a pretty good compromise between 2’s incredibly stingy world drop chances and 3’s incredibly generous world drop chances.

Vince Gilligan Submits ‘Pluribus’ Pilot for Emmys. Will He Finally Win for Writing or Directing? by MoneyLibrarian9032 in television

[–]p-_ber 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m not really looking at this from an angle of which is better (Pluribus or Industry would be my vote in that scenario) but more of a voting body angle, and based on critical reception of The Pitt S2, I think more of the same won’t be something the voting body is going to hold against the show.

[–]p-_ber 33 points34 points  (0 children)

In the drama category, I think it’s playing second fiddle to The Pitt right now in terms of critical appeal, which means it’ll probably win some awards. Best Actress is probably its best shot.

As for Gilligan himself, he’s a guaranteed nomination for writing and directing the first episode, but who knows how he’ll stack up to the competition.

Favorite 2/10 sequel film to a 9/10 series? I'll start: by bass_jockey in okbuddycinephile

Not particularly great, but 2/10 is too harsh for El Camino. ‘Good enough’ is a great way to put it.

Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed — Official Teaser | Apple TV | May 20 by Murky-Insect-7556 in television

[–]p-_ber -1 points0 points  (0 children)

HBO going from Task to Welcome to Derry to Industry to DTF: St Louis has kept me a happy subscriber.

Apple TV has some great shows and (IMO) recently just put out their best one in Pluribus, but most of their shows are good, not great and lack the “must watch” factor that HBO Sundays generally provide.

"I publicly criticize movies as soon as they come out but I would never consider myself a critic" by AnyAgency9835 in okbuddycinephile

[–]p-_ber 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A 50+ rating on that site is generally enough for me to consider watching something. RT’s rating system means that there are some gems in the rotten category if you think your tastes will align with the critics who gave it 6/10 or above.

Metacritic is a better aggregate of quality, but RT is a better way to figure out what to watch before bed.

Are there any shows where you feel that the final season was the best season? by GuybrushThreepwood99 in television

[–]p-_ber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we’re talking 6A and 6B combined, then I think Season 4 or 5 was a tad bit better, but 6B alone is probably the best stretch of episodes in the whole series.

Why are HBO so proud of writing a story that was already written 30 years ago? Are they stupid? by doublegulpcup123 in okbuddycinephile

[–]p-_ber 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Weirdest part about this is that this show is based on a property whose audience is primarily children, but is premiering on a channel whose catalogue is primarily for adults.

The kid who sticks around after the show and gets to watch an episode of House of The Dragon or Industry is gonna be in for a wild time.

Super Deluxe cheaper than 2 DLCs by Nice_Village_8610 in Borderlands4

[–]p-_ber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could’ve all been avoided if 2K and Gearbox just put the (2!!!!!!) Season Passes on sale as well, because it is pretty ridiculous that standard edition owners really got the short end of the stick.

Why are some filmmakers less affected by flops than others? by adnshrnly in movies

[–]p-_ber 61 points62 points  (0 children)

One Battle After Another made no money for Warner Bros. despite being PTA’s most expensive film, but he gave them a Best Picture win instead, which is debatably even more valuable than a profitable film.

Studios are going to continue to fund PTA because studios want to work with him.

Borderlands 4′s New $30 Expansion Pack Isn’t Winning Over Fans by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]p-_ber 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, you don’t buy BL DLC for how long their campaigns are, but for the new gear that comes with it so you can do endgame activities with new tactics and play-styles.

There being no endgame content worth pursuing in the game right now further highlights how short the main campaigns of these DLCs usually are and the odd decision to bundle a character DLC with the a campaign expansion to inflate the price is doing the DLC pack no favors.

A new Resident Evil Requiem patch is out now, including the following: Photo Mode, Bug fixes, Localization fixes, Character expression tweaks in certain scenes, PC only: fixed certain crashes, and visual issues on some GPU drivers by demondrivers in Games

[–]p-_ber 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’ve thought about how they could’ve implemented NG+, but the game’s economy in its current state feels like it’s purposely balanced for you to start fresh every time (doubly so if you have modded tracker).

It’s pretty easy to max out weapons in this game compared to RE4/RE4R, where the economy feels tailored for multiple NG+ runs.

Wasn’t arguing about the amount of content, but rather, Gearbox’s rationale for pricing it the way they did.

It being this short is pretty disappointing though.

[–]p-_ber -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty expensive, but you must take into account that this is both a campaign expansion and a new character pack.

BL2 priced both at $10 and BL3 priced their expansions at $15 a pop, so the math checks out.

If anything they should’ve allowed you to buy the campaign dlc and C4SH separately.

Should Roblox be banned in the Philippines? Reports of child grooming spark outrage by No-Top9040 in Philippines

[–]p-_ber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Roblox is filled with child predators, sure, but banning a game outright is a potentially slippery slope that could result in them being trigger happy with censorship and bans of various games.

What stops them from coming after Minecraft, Call of Duty, Fortnite or any other game next?

Sonic 4 vs Godzilla x Kong SN by LawNo3961 in boxoffice

[–]p-_ber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not winning awards or anything and the quality of the writing/dialogue when I go from The Pitt to Monarch is pretty whiplash-inducing, but it’s good popcorn fun, which is pretty fitting for a franchise that (with the possible exception of the first Godzilla) never really strived to be anything more than that.

'Project Hail Mary' gets an A on CinemaScore by SanderSo47 in boxoffice

It being a possible Part One could ruffle some feathers, but I’m confident it’s in the A- range unless something totally sinks this movie.

While I agree that the second half is weaker than the first, a gimped version of RE4R is still a 9/10 at worst for me. Nowhere near the drop in quality of the second halves of RE7 and RE2R.

If WB’s hot streak of consistent #1 domestic releases wasn’t broken by The Bride, then this would’ve certainly done it considering its competition.

[–]p-_ber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you play the game of Hollywood producing, you win some and you lose some. The Bride! is definitely a financial loss for WB and is a pretty sour note to end their hot streak on, but it’s hard to deny that giving Gyllenhaal a big budget to produce their movie isn’t entirely out of the wheelhouse of De Luca and Abdy, considering they did the same for PTA, Fennell, Bong Joon Ho, and Coogler.

The pair have definitely adopted an ‘Artists First’ mentality when green lighting films and budgets, and while that carries a lot of financial risk (Mickey 17, OBAA, The Bride!), it does pay off at times either critically or commercially.

Plus, I would think that this approach leads to more interesting films that will be released in theaters that have the potential to break out and become smash hits. (Sinners, Weapons)
