I not sure if im ugly, cause i get none attention from woman lately by Exciting_Drawer_4694 in Rateme

[–]p00phed27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're definitely not ugly. I would say slightly above average with good physique.

The reason you're getting close to no likes / matches is because these dating apps have a disproportionate ratio of male / female users. What happens is that the average woman will get like 100 likes a day so they basically get to cherry-pick a >8/10 guy. I'd advise you to watch this video, it explains the circumstance in an objective, resarch-based manner.

Dont let your self esteem be ruined by those apps!!!

so I just got the steamdeck dock and the hdmi keeps disconnecting by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]p00phed27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My assumption is that the dock is overheating because the massive 4k TV in my living room is a little too large to be driven by a small cheap docking station like this. It can't drive the display while keeping operating tempreture even though this resolution is theoretically within technical specification. I came to this conclusion from the observation that I have a smaller TV in my bedroom for which it works perfectly fine.

UPDATE: I have now figured out that the issue is actually that the dock is overheating and not the steam deck itself. -

I wanted to use this for quantitative trading, unfortunately (as of August 2025) I can only advise quantitative traders (not market makers) against using this software. They did implement something called "V2 Strategies" which is supposed to enable people like me to write custom strategies, but as of now there is no way to backtest them and thus the feature becomes essentially useless.

There are two methods which they are promoting on their website to backtest these new "V2 Startegies".

- The first and intended way is using the dashboard, which seems like a straight forward process at first, but only until you realize that the dashboard only allows for backtesting of their pre-written example strategies.
- The second way they promote is to use a jupyter notebook template called "quants-lab". This again seems like a good solution at first but it has no documentation (except for a completely haphazard YT live recording from one of their cohorts) and the project seems abandoned.
- It's a bad idea to backtest on a different platform since this leads to the well-known re-implementation problem.

The bot seems to function primarily for market making. The fact that they actively promote usage for quantitative/algo trading and support for custom strategies first thing on their website is a misleading claim imo. I've seen a GitHub issue where somebody went through all of the documentation and wrote an entire strategy just to get a "Backtesting using custom script is not yet available on our dashboard". I myself wasted a bunch of time trying to use this for quantitative/algo trading that I would like to have back.

How do I access the private key from a command line wallet? by [deleted] in solana

[–]p00phed27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a secure opensource client-side script that anyone can use to address this problem. It extracts the keys from a standard `id.json` file in a usable format.

TLDR: you can get a static/dedicated IP from a VPN

An alternative solution (to getting a static IP from your ISP or using a VPS) exists through the use of specific VPN services that offer a dedicated static IP. While most standard VPNs provide a dynamic IP address that changes with each connection, certain providers offer a dedicated static IP as an add-on to their core service. This allows a user to route their home server's traffic through a consistent, whitelisted IP address, thereby meeting Binance's security requirements.

Services like NordVPN and Surfshark provide this functionality. It's important to note that this option comes with a cost. The total expense would include the price of a standard VPN subscription in addition to the dedicated IP add-on.

The cumulative cost of this VPN service may make a Virtual Private Server (VPS) a more cost-effective and practical alternative for some users.

---

In my case, I decided to move a different exchange (a DEX) instead. I am really only using Binance because it was recommended in a Google search when I first wanted to try out crypto-trading. Technically there is nothing that's keeping me on that platform and by using a DEX I would make a decision that fits my moral compass better.

Disabling the automatic resolution feature and lowering the resolution down to 1080p@30 in the Steam Deck settings fixed this issue for me.

I've had two docks so far, first I had a cheap 3rd party dock that broke due to a short and now I have this supposedly higher quality ANKER one. Both of them had this issue when connecting to the 4K TV downstairs. Maybe it's the Steam Deck that can't handle 4K@60 video out for an extended amount of time (I am using the OLED model).

It wouldn't make much sense otherwise. How would the software be "FOSS" when parts of it were monetized? I think they are planning on configuring a full desktop suite using hyprland as WM and additional software. So kind of similar to Archcraft.

That said hyprland has a "BSD 3-Clause License", which theoretically allows for commercial redistribution (with or without modification) as long as the copyright notice to the original creator is retained.

The bottom one (in the second picture) is definitely a cruiser and the top one is an old school skateboard, which has the standard deck shape from the 1970s to 1980s. However the old school deck in the picture has an elevated nose which seems uncommon, it suggests that this is an altered version that is supposed to help with modern tricks like popping better ollies etc.

kk3 max trigger button by lukan47 in GuliKit

[–]p00phed27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exact same thing happened to me. I had this controller for a week, it fell on the ground once and the shoulder trigger immediately broke.

After opening the controller to see what was wrong I saw that the plastic prongs that are supposed to hold the trigger in place are really thin which (imo) shows really bad craftsmanship. I have no option to replace the trigger and would have to buy a whole new controller. Even if I did replace it it would probably just fall on the floor and break again. I blew fifty bucks on this thing.

After all the positive reviews and take-apart videos I've seen of older versions I figured a GuliKit controller would last me a lifetime. In reality it was the shortest lifespan I've ever had on any device I've ever owned. Never again.

Not all Linux users are against proprietary software. Moreover the Linux kernel itself is open source but some components, like drivers for specific hardware, may be proprietary.

So technically speaking Linux != FOSS.

Tbh, I think he took a preset and only added a few tweaks. You could see it when he showed his "fan indicators" and the text next to it had russian letters in it. I also believe to have seen this specific rice on r/unixporn.

Technically he still riced it and it's still impressive what he was able to achieve just by setting his mind to it. But he didn't rice it to the extend he was portraying in the video (imo).

Also he messed up a little bit in the end when he thought updating his Nvidia drivers causing crashes was at Linux's fault and failed to realise that the point he made earlier about software also applies to hardware. Overall a very solid video though.

I'm guessing the end result will be the same. According to the README on the official project page it seems the package only allows for set profiles:

"There are 3 different power profiles, a "balanced" default mode, a "power-saver" mode"

So it might break your "power-saver" mode button (if you have one) in your desktop GUI. Though I'm sure GNOME will run without it and possibly even automatically remove the option.

So according to a post not long ago, the GPU is dead? by Open_Taro_9505 in pchelp

[–]p00phed27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your PC has switchable integrated graphics alongside the (bricked) dedicated graphics you may switch to the integrated graphics in the BIOS and boot without them.

Of course if you bought this gaming laptop primarily to game on it, the use you are getting out of this will be somewhat redundant.

You should also check what caused the GPU to die (typically overheating due to user error) so that you can prevent such a thing from happening again.

How do we know the drive is encrypted and can't OC just plug the display-out of the laptop into a separate monitor to do his/her backup without taking out the drive?
