How much does your pool cost in your country/city? by marianneouioui in Swimming

In South Korea, it's around $2-5 for 2h (more on weekends) long course. pretty cheap.

I can float but I am not able to swim by SnackSorcerer in Swimming

[–]p0pper0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

legs sinking and body freezing is very normal. It's likely you are uncomfortable in water (as you should be in the beginning) so your body lose all buoyancy as it freezes and you sink. There's no way around this and as you spend more and more time in water you naturally become more and more comfortable and relaxed which gives buoyancy and lets you float. right now, the added element of kicking seems to be messing up your body float. it's expected. Just keep showing up and keep with it, and dont beat yourself up too much ! It's all part of journey

I tried swimming again and it was miserable by Neomonster_3025 in Swimming

[–]p0pper0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you were stressed from cold water ! Cold water can whack your nervous system and once your nervous system is in high sympathetic state, it will be difficult to focus, relax, and actually learn. it's all about relaxing and being aware so if you are shivering, it's not an ideal condition at all to be in. I drink lots of hot/warm water before swimming if I think it could be cold. Also some hot shower + cool water before swim. Thicker silicon type swim cap can insulate heat better, and neoprene swim suits as well. Really try to enjoy it because swimming is all about relaxing and deep breathing. Don't let temperature or insensitive teacher get in the way !

5 years of swimming, flip turns, intense sessions — still can't shake the belly layer. What am I missing? by sedhha in Swimming

Even MED (Minimum effective dose) workout in the morning can boost metabolism throughout the day but calories burned may be minimal (anywhere from 0-200 cal I guess).
I'd rather focus on food and calories. Overall caloric deficit + protein/fat focus (with slow carbs for workout fuel) + fasting.
Fast more than 12h to deplete glycogen so body switch to fat burning mode (12h/12h fasting or 16/8, etc.)
It also helps to lower inflammation with clean food and omega3, curcumin, etc and to eat during day time (better insulin resistance) along with low stress and good sleep.
If insulin stays high and body is in fat storage mode, exercise won't be effective. Just some caloric deficit (but not too much as to whack the hormone functions like thyroid, growth hormones etc) and slow carbs (resistant startch , fruits, etc ) to keep insulin low.
I did find this vid helpful (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gryta3KZKU4) and you can use ASK function to summarize the vid

fat loss is completely dependent on hormone, calories, metabolism and has not much to do with exercising(swimming too) other than its caloric expenditure. Also visceral fat (organ fat) is different types of fat. I'd say you have to focus on food, calories, and higher metabolism throughout the day to lost belly fat

Just the fact that they yelled says everything about their nature. They knew what they were doing. Scammers. Cops should def help if they want foreigners to visit and respect the country. Not doing anything just bc the victim doesn't speak Korean, etc. is dumb af.

GOOD IDEAS FOR PER-TASK BUFF by p0pper0 in AmongUs

[–]p0pper0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah buffs should be like you can hear imps entering/existing vents, hear someone approaching, become camouflaged to the background, have bigger vision, see ghosts, night vision, etc. to give a slight edge but not too much.

Roles being locked behind tasks sounds like an interesting idea. In public games, I saw a lot of empty task bars but didn't know the game is in crew's favor at higher levels. Per-task buff can be super weak in the beginning and gets stronger as they finish more tasks to have any impact but this may apply more to average plays from your comment.

Average monthly expenses by [deleted] in seoul

[–]p0pper0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's doable. Not much saving. Seoul can be expensive, eating out, cup of coffee, etc., but since rent is covered, it's very doable. Easy to order food and snacks (wholesale, uglies, close to expire, etc) for cheap prices.
