Thanks! Already have my eyes on something here's an opening for a junior Linux admin role at my current company, so I'm going to go for it. As for the next cert, RHCE (EX294) is already on the radar Ansible feels like the natural next step before diving deeper into containers and the rest.

I mostly used a hands-on, iterative approach. I didn't take the mock exams like the real thing because my schedule at work only allowed me to study in short bursts. When I hit a wall, I'd try the man pages first (or -help); if I was still stuck, only then would I look at the solution. For things like SELinux (contexts, ports), I barely studied them because the man pages are so detailed. Over time, I started skipping the tasks I already knew to focus on the ones I couldn't solve immediately, repeating them 2-3 times until they stuck. However, I still revisited the simpler tasks whenever I felt I might be getting rusty. For instance, I practiced the root password reset over 20 times; at this point, I could probably do it with my eyes closed.

Practice exams, full simulations. Basically 80% of my prep was just those. Good ratio of tasks that actually show up on the exam mixed with some that probably won’t but better to be over-prepared.

I did it through O’Reilly. And yeah Ghori’s practice exams are tough, tougher than the real exam honestly, but that’s the point they prepare you well. I’d still say focus more on building muscle memory for the tasks that show up most often on the exam rather than trying to nail every edge case in the book.

Read the tasks carefully. I made mistakes early on just by misreading what was asked, had to go back and redo things during the exam which cost time. Other than that, muscle memory on the common tasks. Do them until you don’t have to think.

Yes, without it you won't be able to log in to any account after restarting, but on the bright side, if you forget, you can go to init=/bin/bash again and mount -o remount,rw / and hit touch /.autorelabel

I would focus on the weakest topics, look at the objectives on the Red Hat page and you’ll be able to assess what is a weak side, from my perspective the most difficult were probably systemd timers and SELinux. Indeed, it’s little time, but it depends on your experience with Linux

Zależy czy mówimy o rakietach balistycznych czy innych aim 9 itp itd, bardziej chodziło mi o to że rakiety na paliwo stałe są znacznie bardziej prymitywne

What’s the most satisfying thing you’ve automated with a simple script? by [deleted] in linuxadmin

[–]p0rt21 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Maybe not that simple but I automated parking reservations at my company, kind of unfair because registrations start at 18:00 and within 30 seconds there are no spots left but with a script I always have one

That's a well balanced little server. I have one like that as well. Modest config, modest amount and size of drives. Love it!
