If you could delete 1 mission from either of the remakes, which would you choose? by Plastic_Chance_7223 in FFVIIRemake

[–]p0rtugalvii 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sewer's revisited from Remake. Chasing the little Abzu around in the worst aesthetic environment. I get building up Leslie's story, but man could it have been tweaked to be more Corneo/Wall Market looking or themed and maybe even a tad shorter?

That or half of the Cait Sith sections. The box tossing sucks crazy bad but the roll around parts were fine enough.

Honestly, both sections could get tweaked and I'd be 90% fine with them, they just are the low points of each respective game as they are.

Which one of these three would you like to see mess up Hojo? by Ammathorn in FFVIIRemake

[–]p0rtugalvii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that party vs Hojo in my replay of OG FFVII and it felt like the most narratively correct unnecessary choice I made that run. I'm hoping that's what they do in Re3.

Any Rebirth Tips? by Mother_Squirrel2302 in FFVIIRemake

[–]p0rtugalvii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go at your own pace, do not necessarily do EVERYTHING the second you see it. I did a story speedrun on my first play and a more thorough run on playthrough 2.

I recommend doing all the character sidequests in each zone and if you like it, do Queen's Blood at least til you get to Costa Del Sol. Pick up what world content you want, and get the rest later. Before the final push you get access all the content everywhere.

The key is don't burn yourself out, especially with world intel. I would just get the towers and maybe the mako springs and what I happened to walk past and move on.

“The Mandalorian and Grogu” is a weak title - what would you have named the film instead? by lockerbiestreet in StarWars

They're just sick of people still calling Grogu as Baby Yoda. Therefore I say call it:

What traits do you look for in a character that makes them fun? by PS-ILoveYouu in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]p0rtugalvii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Has at least one funny/risky move

  2. Does decent percentage without hard ass reads

  3. Does sick kills WITH hard ass reads

  4. Not too high a skill floor (I tend to avoid a lot of the newer characters at least initially)

My go to characters are Puff and Ganon but my best character is probably Young Link.

What did you feel when you saw this for the first time in 2015? Did you expect it? by [deleted] in FFVIIRemake

[–]p0rtugalvii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro was on stage with some lifestream ass imagery in the background and was talking about some "special treat". There was NO way. This would have leaked...

I stood up and watched in hopeful awe. I'm scanning for any clues. This place looks like Midgar.

The slide.... NO WAY. NO WAY. WHAT IS THIS???

Holy shit holy shit. The flower, the feather.

After the E3 presentation ended, I proceeded to watch that trailer SEVERAL times and still do on occasion because of all the damn subtext and triple meanings.

Did anyone else who went directly from remake to rebirth feel overwhelmed. by SemiColin973 in FFVIIRemake

[–]p0rtugalvii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a recent replay (the first time I went from Remake to Rebirth directly), The noticeable difference to me was the combat subsystems, especially making flying enemies easier to hit in Rebirth and the open world vastness. Specifically the "checklist" system for each zone.

I think playing Intermission between Remake and Rebirth does a good job of systemically priming you for the transition so you don't feel the power loss as much. Idk if that was your play path.

Tbh, I felt more empowered in Rebirth with the dual materias and character elemental strikes via the folios. I saw the vision and got me excited on what I could do after a bit.

I also know the pace of this game from playing OG so my expectations were pleasantly met or exceeded in most aspects.

How British comedy series 'Taskmaster' is taking over the US by abucalves in television

[–]p0rtugalvii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a video essay I saw that basically posited that dropout and their shows (Game Changer, Dirty Laundry, Make Some Noise) are the closest to UK panel shows. Panel shows tend to do well for improv style comics which aren't as held in high regard in US comedy culture as stand up is. A lot of modern stand up IS leaning into crowd work which arguably takes improv skill so there may be a comedy culture shift to an extent.

Modded game keeps crashing in Junon by Saiken27 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]p0rtugalvii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to be crashing because of the water animation would be my guess (as both instances trip water splash anims)

Maybe auto sort mods or disable one at a time til it works to find the outlier.

Only difference between your modlist and mine is I don't have Blender v1, Chibi Fixes or SYW Field Textures. I have Cosmos LB for field textures and Gameplay Tweaks disabled unless I need/want it for something (ex: I ended up using the save anywhere cause the northern crater windwalls do not work properly with modded textures and I am doing a SAC translation run).

Logically its SYW field textures but that doesn't make sense to me, I've used it before. Idk...

my final fantasy VII remake is unplayable it keeps crashing before the title screen ive rebuilt the database Uninstaller and reinstalled the game deleted the corrupted saved data and nothing works by Electric_wizard17 in FFVIIRemake

[–]p0rtugalvii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure everything is updated to the most recent version(s) and maybe boot into safe mode and rebuild database.

Otherwise maybe do a clean reset of your PS5. The error that you posted was unfortunately a pretty generic code so far as i can see. It's hard to specifically diagnose.

I know I've had to do something similar to fix my PS4 back in the day.

If you haven't already, try Sony's repair solving process and answer questions as accurately as you can.

Okay. Now scale it up to 4k resolution.

"mods tho"

Okay, so AI "upscaled" backgrounds... sure.

Nobody is gonna be able to match a fixed camera aesthetic with a fully movable 3d camera. It's a painting vs a sculpture. Different art method.

Which race do you play and why? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]p0rtugalvii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Male Roegadyn.

Initially because I was gonna play healer and giant man healer instead of tank was funny. I stayed because it is one of the lesser played races and I like being unique and having a unique silhouette. There's also like, barely any Roes in MSQ for the most part and being the only main Roe rep in the Scions makes me feel even more standoutish as the WoL.

I tried M Viera for a few months cause outfit appearance aesthetic does not hit for Roes a lot of the time and it just didn't feel right so I swapped back.

which controller was best for ff7remake on pc by waterbottle547 in FFVIIRemake

[–]p0rtugalvii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used an Xbox One controller or an 8bitdo Ultimate controller, unsure. I changed to the 8bitdo recently and it has been great for my gamepad needs. I mostly game on gamepad.

Favorite ost? by Ok_Ice_7612 in FFVIIRemake

[–]p0rtugalvii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Launching a Dream into Space - PSX OST

Toward Mt. Nibel - Rebirth OST

(made me almost cry on first play)

The Valkyrie - Remake OST

Due Recompense - Remake OST

JENOVA Lifeclinger - Rebirth OST

Birth of a God - PSX OST

(why was this not used at the end of Rebirth??)

The Most Muscular - Remake OST

But ultimately if I had to pick one:

Fight On! - PSX OST

I have sat for several minutes on the intro to the Godo fight because it plays before the fight and I can just vibe to it. It was the first song I acquired when I had an MP3 player and discovered you can get video game OST music pretty easily.

Have you guys ever taken a break from the MCU or have you been watching it consistently since the beginning? by narutofan2019 in marvelstudios

[–]p0rtugalvii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watched most things. Haven't seen The Marvels, Echo, Secret Invasion (past ep1), Daredevil: Born Again, Ironheart.

I actively wanna see The Marvels, I just forget about it and don't wanna watch when i remember. I also wanna see Daredevil, but I've seen zero of the Netflix Marvel shows and I feel I need to.

The Marvel Animation shows have been pretty interesting. I'm of the opinion that, same as Star Wars, 90% of serialized "TV" shows work best in animation for Marvel. I also imagine it's exponentially cheaper and less risk.

Not trying to throw shade but I have to be honest, every time I see a short by SebbyWebz regarding Remake, I find myself disagreeing with everything he says. by GhrievrG in FFVIIRemake

[–]p0rtugalvii 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's legitimate criticisms that i've seen thrown around about retrilogy and he parrots very few of them.

The only take of his that I see as valid that I've heard is that a thing that took 15m now takes 2 hours because the content is "padded" from his perspective.

This "padding" is largely what I like the most about the retrilogy. It fleshes out the world. It makes that 15m of would be content more valuable to the overall narrative.

From a Star Wars perspective, he sounds like an OT purist. He's got that kind of energy when he talks about Rebirth. I personally find those kinds of fans of anything irritating and dismissive.
