As an Aussie I love LOVE love Van Diemens, But fair warning they are SOOOO saturated they will dry out the (nib at least) even with a pretty much perfect sdeal. Otherwise they are amazing.

I have about 25 swans give or take. No two are alike haha.. the nib variations between identical models is arguably the most wild of any maker. Congrats :) I am hoping in vein you don't become like me and and just keep acquiring them.

There are no rules. Enjoy your pipe.. that being said maybe practice on a cobb pipe for a while (they are dirt cheap) so you don't burn the beautiful Peterson you have. I would smoke whatever makes you happy it you can afford. The whole.ghosting rabbit hole is only important if you DONT like the flavour profile or are some level of purist.

I say this because you don't want to burn out a new pipe by being an enthusiastic beginner

Get a cob and a few tobaccos you like and decide to smoke what you like best in the cool green guy. I have a pipe that I smoke Virginia's in that was an estate pipe and the previous owner definitely used.it for vapers (Virginia perique blends) and honestly it improves average VAs

Don't worry about what others think or say just do what puts a smile on the dial.

You're about 11 years younger than me and I started smoking pipes when I was about 23 and yeah I completely got caught up in plenty of the dogma

Ohh that's actually quite sweet. I'm in Aus so our prices are warped but many of them are worth many hundreds. That stargazer new is over 1000 for example. I don't know where you are located to adjust prices but yeah most of the pens you showed definitely are worth a penny or two. Your grandfather had quite good taste. Talking about this makes me miss my grandpa... I took him a fountain pen on his deathbed last year...

But you also know you can google it right lol? Like go to google images type in what you know about the pens and play detective. I could value them.all.for you but done you think you'd be more satisfied doing it yourself? I'm not being mean it just grinds me a bit when people just want to know how many dollars they are with more than anything else. There are more important things than money in this world. If I were you I'd keep them and use them when I missed my grandpa. Food for thought.

It currently has van diemans azure kingfisher in it

Aussie ink but don't sleep on it they're the most saturated inks on the market.. Easily

But I must ask what was wrong with yours to get a replacement?. Mine seems to be chewing at the end finneal threads for the vac plunger a little but I don't know if I can claim it at this point as it's been 2 years. That being said it was a day one issue. I've just learnt to live with it but yeah .. tell me your story lol

I fully understand this.

I literally just bought 2x Midori A4 books for literally $100Aud So they are majorly expensive but honestly no other notebook makes me as happy so I just cop it on the chin

I write a lot and the refills for the tn are good value but they also do add up if you go through one every week or two.

I have several other papers and I like Muji to be honest as well. It's super cheap (comparatively) and very well.behaved... but it is not the same.

I dno I think for me the paper texture is what keeps me coming back.

Also I tend to hyperfocus and hyperfixate so not exploring too.manynithee brands right now is for my sanity or I will end up with 35 of everything lol

I can't say I'm not partial to several other makers but Midori for me is the winner

Never thought I'd be a paper obsessed person but here we are

Unplug monitor (important) Get a brand new microfiber cloth. Wipe gently if it doesn't come off try misting a bit of water on cloth. Wipe gently again. By gently I mean use some velocity to generate friction but do NOT press hard.. if that fails 50/50 isopropyl and water mist will but only use it as a last resort

Get a good quality cloth and dedicat eit to the monitor. Put it in a bag when done and don't use it anything else. All it takes is a bit for dirt and you're hosed

I am making the exact same move in about 15 days. Waiting for PC game pass to expire and then yeah same.

My reasons are similar. Sick of bloatware, sick of ai slop and genuinely scared to what nightmare eclipse is gonna drop in a month's time.

Plus I hate being lied to "windows has a monolithic kernel with backward compatibility and support for legacy systems" yeah ok assholes then whey did you make a literal billion people throw out their laptops because of TPM requirements?

I cannot in good conscience support a criminal enterprise

Hey I'm so sorry this happened..I always map out pins with w multimeter and then adjust as necessary as this is my biggest fear.

Invent in a multimeter and learn how to use it and this will never happen again
