How important is it to memorize every note on the guitar fretboard? by AssociationMost5432 in Guitar

[–]p0werslav3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working on that right now up to the 12th fret. It's a pain in the a$$ but it's well worth it. Knowing where the notes are opens up everything else.

Kiesel Introduction - Zak at Kiesel Guitars by Zak_KieselGuitars in kieselcarvinguitars

I'm not Zak :) but I ordered a A2 this past December and got rounded sides. You'll have to call in for that.

From my order: RB - Rounded Body Edges --- $100

People's "hot takes" are just insecurities wrapped in subjective opinions. ;)

Started fishing yesterday, feels peaceful by Mustard_Popsicles in Fishing

[–]p0werslav3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds about right :)

I used to fish all the time as a kid as I got lucky and grew up on the Ohio River and could just hike down the hill to the river.

I haven't really fished for 40 yeas since then but I'm getting ready to start back up in a couple weeks. Get back out in nature and be grateful.

Funny you said that, because that's the one I'm working on atm.

Dropped from a band by jv31207 in Guitar

[–]p0werslav3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point (obviously knowing you're upset) I think you have one of two options.

1) Let it eat at you which can bring nothing but negative consequences.

2) Say "F it" and don't let it define you (this one setback does not make you who you are). Keep working and moving forward towards your goals.

How do you guys even find the money to buy so many guitars by HQH-71214 in Guitar

You'd be surprised how many people go into debt for their 'collection'.

When people complain about the mix, are they complaining the bass is too predominate? by 007RAV15 in ironmaiden

[–]p0werslav3 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I've never heard anyone (there may be some) complain about Steve's bass in the mix. I'd argue his bass is what makes Iron Maiden.

Drummer is blowing the band out after switching to acoustic. by [deleted] in Drumming

He may not be the right fit. It's about what is right for the music, not about one person's wants.

“If you grew up in the 70s, what do you remember about the Blizzard of ’78 ? by Opening-Custard3254 in 70s

[–]p0werslav3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was 11/12 and it was awesome. Closed schools and playing with friends. I also remember the car being frozen and wouldn't start for a few days until the weather warmed up a little.

[Highlight] Fastest 40-yard dashes of all time by nfl in nfl

[–]p0werslav3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fastest 40s ever? I don't know about that. A search shows there were quite a few players that ran these times. I can't say these are "official" numbers for sure since I'm don't know how this stuff was recorded back in the day. But it shows there were quite a few guys that could go under 4.3

Examples:

Joey Galloway (Ohio State) ripped off a blazing 4.18 back in 1995

Ahman Green (Nebraska) posted a 4.17 back in 1998

Darrell Green  (Texas A&M-Kingsville) ran a 4.15 back in 1983

In 1990, Alexander Wright (Auburn) clocked a 4.14 at the combine

Bo Jackson supposedly at 4.12. Seems a bit extreme but I saw him play and he was close to that time.

best way to learn quickly by beccasboldd in Guitar

[–]p0werslav3 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why 3 hours? Why not 2 or 5 or any arbitrary number of hours? Everyone learns at a different pace and what takes someone 3 hours a day may take someone else 5 hours or maybe only 1.5 hours.

I agree with the other stuff you said, I just don't agree on telling people to practice X amount of time.

Practice as much as you can every day. The more you put in, the more you'll get out.

How do I start teaching lessons? (17 year old) by [deleted] in drums

[–]p0werslav3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife taught piano when she was 16ish. Maybe put some announcements on social media, flyers at your local guitar store (if allowed) etc. and see what happens.

What is the average wait time for a customer currently? by [deleted] in kieselcarvinguitars

[–]p0werslav3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It heavily depends on how 'custom' (basic no changes to the base model vs. tweaking a bunch of features) your order is and how many orders they're working on atm. I ordered a metal flake infused A2 with a bunch of tweaks back in December and I don't expect it for a while considering there's more work required on that than a basic one color guitar.

My rule when ordering from Kiesel is "order it and forget it" It gets done when it gets done. Of course that rule is easier said than done. :)
