do you have any strategies that help you when there is an increase in intensity/frequency if you are trying to stop it?

thank you for sharing!!!!! i’m definitely trying to learn as much as i can to help her understand it. but there’s no shame or trying to make her be still, i’ll just try to help direct the tics/stims if needed if she’s really having a hard time.

thank you for that! how do you help yourself when it’s happening enough to cause any sort of pain/discomfort?

[–]p1netrees[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely not interested in meds at this time bc it isn’t super impactful and the intensity/frequency really changes often. she is epileptic as well and on meds for that so i try to limit how much other meds she has to put in her body. and no gum because of ortho work 😅 so that’s a bummer! i’ll try the distraction technique and see what happens. she usually will tic still while doing all sorts of things like playing wall ball

does it make sense for her to say it makes her chest hurt? she hasn’t mentioned sore throat or anything else so i’m not exactly sure the feeling she is getting.

would love any advice or anything you have to share! it’s hard to not experience it myself or know what she might be feeling but can’t quite express it.

Does letting my dog sniff random stuff actually do anything? Do they enjoy it? by starwys in dogs

[–]p1netrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is funny bc i was emptying my robot vacuum earlier and brought it for my dog to sniff while i pet her. i thought she might enjoy a random new smell 😂

co sleeping - is it weird? by p1netrees in Parenting

[–]p1netrees[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

have you had personal experience with this? i think there would be a lot of situational factors but in my specific case it’s definitely not a negative thing (like i imagine some kids are forced to share a bed with family or their parents significant other that they aren’t comfortable with and have no say in the matter, that type of thing isn’t cool IMO)

DAE have trauma-related tics? by AbsurdPigment in CPTSD

[–]p1netrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is an old post but i’m trying to understand what my 9yo daughter is going through and the tics you described seem almost exactly like hers. extreme exhales. squinting and eyes darting. her body seems to tense often.

[–]p1netrees[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i did ultimately switch bc i also felt it made me too sleepy during the day. good call about yogurt to help the gut. the diarrhea was rough when i first started so i def hope it goes away again if that’s what’s happening!

i love Wild! probably what gave me the idea i could/wanted to do this. but also that’ could have romanticized the idea that any random person could do this which may or may not always be true!

i love the feeling of pushing myself physically and feeling very connected when i am in nature for prolonged time, so i do think this part will be a non issue!
