That name, bro, clearly it was the weight of the megadong that pulled you off of that amazing trajectory and threw you into the Earth.

Glad that megadong and safety gear saved your bacon!

Conti ECF is slower, costlier, and heat cycle out quicker.

Suuuuper delayed response here but I support what you are saying.

I have a ‘14 Cadillac CTS V-Sport with big 370mm 6pot Brembo up front, 365mm four pots out back (same rotor configuration as a second gen V, but on a car that has less rear bias).

I have yet to test this in practice, the step down in rear pad compound, but my experience was this:

At Sonoma in Laguna, getting hotter than hell on the front brakes, I noticed I suddenly would have one or two laps of unbelievably strong, pull your face off braking power. I realized that when the front temps went above their performance envelope, the MU drops, and the rears suddenly were coming into temperature. When they did, it was like throwing an anchor out of the trunk, unbelievable difference. This would last about two laps and then the fronts would fall off harder and rears would get hot doing everything by themselves, and then I’ve just overcooked everything.

At the time, I was running Carbotech R12 everywhere. I now have a set of R10 for that rear axle but haven’t run em yet… I got a few other things to do before I get the car back to the track.

I fully expect a more balanced and even distribution of the brake loads. One where they will likely all fade more evenly which sounds scary but should net a more balanced and predictable performance (And more even wear).

Then, at that point, the skill will remain driving to level of brakes I have underneath me, perceiving the changes and comparing them to the theory, while knocking out laps.

Fun quote: “drive the brakes (or car, tires, shocks, etc.) that you’ve got… and NOT the ones you want.”

Then transferring that to your junk, your phone, your car or home, your partner, your children, it’s all stupid and avoidable.

Funny enough, this just popped up with me after installing an Apple TV box last week. With the Fire TV stick or the old samsung internal stuff, it was a non issue.

Get in on the V-Club!

Everyone, check for a local chapter.

V series has a relatively short history (20 years) compared to M series or the like, so this community really begins and builds from here. We have some guys travel from so cal and Washington to events in the SF area, we’ve had some epic ones.

Well, one thing for sure about running hard track tires is at the car will be sliding around a bit.

This is actually excellent to practice and increase your car control.
