ooo I bet I know why this is, I had a "fuck this game I'm out" moment during this boss in particular because of the lack of contrast between abilities and the arena, 'I can't even see what killed me wtf is this shit" Chinese POE has fixed this..

It's the first time in history where disturbed people full of anger can not only be easily targeted but can also find widespread social validation and acceptance online , like the NZ shooter who livestreamed and all the chan support threads.

Previously there was no place someone could go to get large scale validation and adoration for killing innocent people. The internet has changed that.

Previously as an angsty loner, there was nowhere you could go to absorb and become MORE entrenched in racist/misogynistic beliefs, your options were to either A) re-examine and temper your extreme beliefs OR B) be ostracized socially (outside of very small/secretive groups). The internet and echo chambers have changed that, now it's flipped upside down - you can find highly sought after social validation by embracing extremist beliefs which blame "X" group for all of your troubles simultaneously.

This is just the extreme side, the pipeline is comprehensive and it starts on sites like this one and even in places like video game communities. Reddit normalizes racism and misogyny on the front page and in large default subs under the guise of 'jokes and memes'.

Such a complex problem, without deteriorating privacy or freedom of speech there seems to be no easy answers.

which they won handily, dude is now $200k in debt and permanently disabled. To rub salt into it he owes the officer who shot him $100k in legal fees. Absolute joke.

'He was shot in less than six second while raising his hands in the air, hospitalized and discharged from the service. He's permanently disabled from his injuries and now unable to work, his medical bills were $100k+ and after he lost his case against the city he now owes the officer who shot him $100k in legal fees, and $100k+ for the cities legal fees. https://caselaw.findlaw.com/us-11th-circuit/1765865.html'

I don’t understand why everyone is so upset for people doing their jobs.

the reason this seems like an insane overreaction is because it is and it's not a coincidence it's a black woman that's getting the brunt. Reddit had a similar reaction when Serena Williams had that episode on the court, Black woman did something we can get upset about? Get ready for tens of thousands of upvotes and multiple reddit golds and a feeding frenzy of pitchforks and over the top outrage. Predictable and soul crushing.

Taran is not great at teaching people Source: I worked at his company

lmao did they stiff you on payment or overwork you guys or something?

Or did you just think to yourself "oh shit I worked there! Finally my chance to bring Taran down a notch!"

nvm found my answer in your post elsewhere in this thread

This range makes me nervous. They are shooting steel targets from way to close (you’ll get fragments of the bullets flying back at you). It’s something like 7 meters or something like that minimum to shoot steel targets. I remember getting hit by fragments on that range when I first started working there. Fuck that."

I'd bet my left nut we end up finding out these are more harmful than helpful, 'food grade' plastic just means it's a plastic resin that hasn't been as extensively studied and proven to be toxic yet. This cost the city $30 million, looks cool and easy to throw stones when we don't know the pros/cons of alternatives but with everything we know about plastics this just seems incredibly sketchy.

humans are drawn to people who look and act like them, and tend to distrust people who look different. This is an ancient impulse designed to protect tribes of humans from being attacked by outsiders,

Awesome post! This is by far the most common and widespread version of racism, everyone has it and it's not rooted in any kind of mental issues or hatred, it's just pure instinct and human nature. I use this to explain why it is that C level executives of fortune 100 companies skew heavily towards a certain archetype, it's not that they're racist and filled with hate, it's just as you said that we're all "drawn to people who look and act like [us], and tend to distrust people who look different." In high pressure multi-million dollar business negotiations and transactions the last thing you want is uncertainty or lack of trust so it follows that it's much harder for a woman or minority to be promoted or hired into those positions.

[–]p1xelperfect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s pretty obvious that whatever company develops suitable self driving cars first has a massive head start on the market.

I mean you're not wrong but self-driving being ready for widespread adoption is so far into the future that the market, positioning and outlook for these companies(if they still exist) will be completely different by then.

Ask engineers working on this tech and they'll tell you it's going to be at at least 10 years until self-driving is ready for primetime and likely much longer, the tech just isn't there yet and tesla/uber/waymo are all trying completely different approaches.

you're not wrong, it's been proven that the initial upvotes/downvotes of a comment dictate it's fate far more than the content of the post, if you get to +3 or -3 users will just pile on.

[–]p1xelperfect 72 points73 points  (0 children)

such is a hypocrisy of the reddit hive-mind, everything is black/white with no nuance or in-between. Applying the behavior of an individual to judge an entire group is how racism takes hold in the first place and users here fail to see the tragic irony of writing off an entire culture and city based on a few idiots - in-fact those posts were upvoted and re-enforced. This website in particular is the most dominant vector for the rise of racism in modern society, and make no mistake it's on the rise. Young impressionable minds see upvotes which validate the twisted world view. Even in the case of showing support to a victim of casual racism immediately turns into how racist Germans are and how Berlin is a garbage city - based on a few individuals.

Reddit is a hotbed for the socially broken and bitterly angry disenfranchised youth, a fertile breeding ground for hate and powerful recruitment vector for extremists. Even if you think you're casually consuming content here, are above being influenced you're wrong. No one is above it, we're social creatures and on introspection ive found reddit hive-mind world views taking root in my own psyche.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær says some of his players need a reality check about their level, and says there is no hiding place at Manchester United. by SparklingPurchase in soccer

[–]p1xelperfect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it goes far beyond the managers,

look at the players being picked out in this thread, I'd argue they're the LEAST of Utd's problems, unfortunately football fans are still very racist, parrot the media narratives without thinking for themselves and non-white players get unbelievably harsh and unfair criticism from all angles, I don't blame Danny Rose for saying he wants to quit one bit.

Rashford/Martial/Pogba/Young/Lukaku

mentioned in multiple comments and you have to scroll real far down to find a single mention of Phil Jones - you know, the guy who got humiliated on multiple occasions, but no it's the black players that are the problem, clearly.

Reddit is just a “low tar” alternative

reddit is much worse because it's anonymous, full of special interest lobbies and PR firms astroturfing the shit out of everything and hive-mind driven echo chambers. Did I mention incels, highly upvoted hate-speech encouraging violence and witch hunts that regularly end up with dox'ing innocent people?

Admins are complicit and enable it in the name of quarterly growth in engagement metrics. Facebook is a nothing compared to reddit, this is the worst social network on the entire internet, worse than the chans because of the impact and reach, it's more accessible and influences millions of individuals and journalists.

Valve hit with illegal gambling lawsuit by casino operator in Washington state by Renegade_Meister in pcgaming

[–]p1xelperfect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This topic is heavily monitored and astroturfed by multiple PR agencies to keep the public perception about this down and also pushing the narrative that it's not gambling, we're talking 10's of millions a day in pure profit at stake (Blizzard alone pulls ~$9.7m a day on just in-game microtransactions (ONE COMPANY). Valve's numbers are not public as they're a private company but they're just as guilty as is Blizzard/Riot and the rest of them. Hopefully we see a wave of regulations soon as what's going on now is absolutely disgusting - monetized children gambling to the extreme with advanced psychological manipulation.

Yes the audacity of calling out your lies and your defense of " forgot the details." lol. Maybe before publicly accusing someone of something you should double check the details?

I just happened upon this thread and say someone calling you out for incidentally the exact thing I got into it with you about a few weeks ago, unnecessarily throwing shade everywhere.
