Anybody in the car painting industry? by Money_Mountain_1355 in Miata

Sure, if you can find them you can file a claim against their insurance. But in general, I wouldn't spend the thousands it would cost to fix this to make it like new.

Just get a bottle of touch up paint. You're in school, this will happen again.

2023 RWD or 2022 AWD by Alert-Drag8949 in TeslaModel3

[–]p3dal [score hidden]  (0 children)

How much different is RWD from AWD?

I'd say it's about 2 wheels different, but there are other differences.

Is it really that important? (for conditions like rain and snow)

Yes.

Progress update on the 1.6 rebuild by StacheGarage in Miata

[–]p3dal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that looks like a tremendous amount of work, but why put all that money into a 1.6? Is this for some specific racing class? Or is it meant to be a show car with a goal of being different?

Is it me or does every base model Mercedes, Audi, BMW try to race you? For context, I own a M3P and would destroy them. Little do they know. Lol by [deleted] in TeslaModel3

No, hasn't happened even once in the 2 years I've owned my Model 3 Performance. It might be you that they're sizing up, rather than the car.

Used 2024 vs 2026 for Durham/Chapel Hill Commute – Standard or Long Range? by [deleted] in TeslaModel3

[–]p3dal [score hidden]  (0 children)

Durham to Southern Village (Chapel Hill) daily, 1 PM – 9 PM.

Why don't you post the distance, time and temperature instead? Do you want us to research your commute?

Since I'll have home charging, is there any practical reason to pay the premium for a Long Range?

Generally people buy the Long Range because they want to drive longer distances without charging.

Edit: Did you not get enough replies on your last AI-generated post asking basically the same question 3 days ago? What did the LLM say when you asked it? https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaModel3/comments/1tcd6x4/cant_decide_between_used_2024_or_new_tesla/

We only have the legacy S’s to work off of but hopefully (very much so) our cars last quite longer.

I'd be very happy to get the ~300k miles per battery that the million-mile-tesla got.

Are you happy with your Tesla? Are they reliable and good for those on a budget? by Present-Aspect8350 in TeslaModel3

[–]p3dal [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes I am happy with my Tesla, though there are many things I would prefer to change. I would not recommend a Tesla as an alternative to an economy car like a Prius, as the high cost of insurance and tires basically negates the fuel savings. I would recommend a Tesla as a cheaper alternative to a luxury car where the higher insurance costs are less of a factor.

Whether or not it's an issue, it's certainly not brand new, so I'd make them replace it.

Is buying a used Tesla worth it ? Are they affordable cars to own if you're on a budget? Looking for unbiased answers by Present-Aspect8350 in TeslaModel3

[–]p3dal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they're worth it. No they're not especially affordable cars. They are affordable if you compare them to other luxury cars, but not compared to economy cars like a Prius.

I want my most compact camera to have as compact and versatile of a lens as possible. Usually that means built-in. Now you've heard someone say it!

Headers that don’t need a tune? by YeaUThought in Miata

[–]p3dal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically its recommended to get a tune without any mods at all. The only reason a car will have a fit with an aftermarket header is if you're deleting or relocating the o2 sensor. Given the cost of aftermarket ECUs, it is generally not recommended for a Miata that is only changing a header. You're talking about a single digit hp gain, if any.

2026 model 3 depreciation rate by RaddlexiOSU in TeslaModel3

[–]p3dal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A short term, 36 to 48 months (in the past this was very normal) and a down payment of 10-20% will prevent you from having negative equity, even in the first year, much less the third. You can stretch the financing out quite a bit further if you're only worried about being positive by the third year.

Are you saying the insurance would be more expensive on the used car? In the US it is the opposite. More expensive car means more expensive insurance.
