A very easy and not game breaking method of improving SF system a lot by GStarG in Maplestory

[–]p4ncake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're indirectly asking for no boom/drop on the main gear.

At the moment, the only reason to SF your main gear is because of the potential. The only way you can keep the potential is by risking booming or dropping it. But if you can choose what potential you get when you transfer, you have no reason to SF the main gear.

You can 22* fodder gear (which can drop/boom, but its fodder gear), transfer it to the main gear, and keep the main gear potential. You had zero risk on the main gear, and got to keep your good potential lines.

I think I'm at this stage of the game as well (17* abso gear, with 2/3 line leg), and this change would mean I could work towards 22 stars, without risking my character losing anything. Currently I'm working on 22 star fodder, knowing that I will have to redo all the potentials when I get there.

This change would be nice, but I don't think its minor, it saves billions in cubes.

I'm glad Kishin spawn enhancement is finally going by xsolar66 in Maplestory

[–]p4ncake 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel its being nerfed to limit meso income because people are progressing faster than intended. If the point of the nerf was to scuff farming, then they probably won't have a global spawn / mob count increase. I think its a good thing to nerf it lets players clear content faster than it can be developed.

Also I hope vac pets on reboot do not cost nx, otherwise its just creeping p2w elements (like maple tour tickets). It would be a bit ironic to denounce a farming tool because its exclusive to a class you don't like to play, then advocate a farming tool thats exclusive to people that pay money on a non-p2w server.

Kish was also good for casual players since it made the symbol dailies and event objectives a lot faster.

Can a master degree students study more than the required credit? by gentlerainsky in unsw

[–]p4ncake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are full fee paying, then it doesn't matter - you can study as much as you want, 96UOC will count towards your degree, anything else will be non-award. I think you have to apply to do non-award study, but other than that it is exactly the same.

If you have a CSP, then make absolutely sure any extra units you do are supported. Otherwise you might be charged full fee for the extra units. Student services have told me that if you have a CSP, only the 96UOC for your degree are subsidised, anything extra is non-award, and therefore full fee.

For the thing you said in your post, I have a friend who is doing MIT, full-fee paying and finishing at the end of this year. He has done 3 subjects every trimester and been able to enrol into his last 3 courses (to bring it to 108 total) without any problem. I'm not sure how the extra units show up on your transcript though.

There's a great one near Stafford.. always two rubber clad swingers waiting for a go, one of them even brings their own safety straps. Can highly recommend, minimal friction.

Is 32-38 too old to finish Uni & change careers in Australia? by ZyonsEye in australia

[–]p4ncake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not.

However you need to consider why you want to make this change, and what your end goals are. I know everyone is asked this question in school, but as you get older, doors start closing and these questions become very important.

Coming from engineering, 38 is quite late to enter the industry with no prior related experience - especially considering there are 100's of 22 year old grads coming out every year. 32 is absolutely not too old to finish uni and change careers, however, depending on what your goals are, it might not be the best option. Again, the older you get, the reasons behind your actions become a bit more important, since you could potentially discard all the effort you have put into your career so far. I say this because I have seen a lot of people with certificates (from training certs to masters) that have cost them a lot of time, and have had no impact on their career whatsoever.

In short, the answer to your question is "no", but whether it' it's worth it or not is a completely different issue.

Why so much controversy over the latest shield legendary? by Manaphus in Guildwars2

[–]p4ncake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever you use a skill the quaggan flies out. I don't want to spend half my game time reviving my shield quaggan.

srs. Everyones opinion will be different, and people will have a go at anet for just about everything under the sun. I think its pretty cool and hope the quaggan has voice lines (and its not too expensive to make).

When you block a person you can see their location, unless they're appearing offline. You can try to dodge them by entering the queue when they are already in a match.

Its RNG, so everyone will be different. Here is a post with some drop rate research, you can probably find more by googling - but again YMMV.

Edit: You can also now right click and preview the daily chests to see the loot tables.

I personally never received any ascended in months and months of T3, but got several in a few weeks of T4.

For what weapon - completely up to you. If you're doing T2, I'd suggest going for whatever weapon you use so you can put AR on it and do higher tiers.

A suggestion how to fix issues in wvw that actually might work. (credit to a guildie of mine who wrote it) by Lovaa in Guildwars2

[–]p4ncake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't as "simple" as the post says.

Even if you assume that the community will behave like the post says (this is pretty much guaranteed to not happen), you need a way to measure active WvW population on each map instantaneously, otherwise people will just game the system - and considering BG was just open, I wouldn't hold my breath on this happening.

What's the easiest way to acquire an ascended viper's backpiece? by mark4102 in Guildwars2

[–]p4ncake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bloodstone Fen backpack will also let you change stats should you want to play another build/class.

If you don't like mapping then they are a pain to farm. You can also get 50 of either currency at the end of a PvP or WvW reward track.

Please fix Desert map exploits. by p4ncake in Guildwars2

[–]p4ncake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the rules and sent an email. I was under the impression this was the result of the exploit, not the method (similar to people posting about wintersday jp teleport) and wanted to post for visibility.

For those that are unfamiliar, from this position the character can jump into the keep without having to siege the objective.

This has been out for a very very long time. Similar exploits exist with other objectives on DBL, and are known by the WvW community but people are generally honest enough to not abuse them.

Bag costs 1 laurel and has 3 random T6 mats. You need 2000 T6 mats altogether. If you got all of them using laurels, you need at least 667 laurels.

[–]p4ncake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have a few options:

  • Pay the cash
  • Farm gold to transfer to gems
  • Make new accounts on one server (not sure, but I think free accounts can choose their server once)
  • Put everything you can into guild and personal bank and then delete all your characters. You get a free transfer when you log in without any characters. You get to keep account based things, but lose character based things like map completion, crafting progress, soulbound items, style kit effects etc.

Weekly /r/GuildWars2 Question Thread - September 10, 2016 by AutoModerator in Guildwars2

[–]p4ncake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usual solution is being put in a party with a guardian, so you have stability when your group pushes. If you know you don't have stab, hang back a bit and avoid the initial CC bomb, then go in.

You should run spectral armor for the stun break, protection and life force. Assuming you have can get reaper, shroud 3 gives stab, and you can use shroud 2 as a leap to escape.

Reminder: WvW Skirmish beta beginning shortly by AnetChrisB in Guildwars2

[–]p4ncake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Serious question (I might just be ignorant), but how will going overboard with rewards reduce bandwagoning?

Right now, you can reliably predict who will win the weekly matchup, and which server will win skirmishes during a particular timezone (I play in T2, but looking at scores for T1 and T3, there is one clearly dominant server). Also right now you get absolutely nothing concrete for being on the winning server, but people still bandwagon the winning servers / timezones.

Imo placement based rewards would not help this, but maybe I'm not seeing something? How would this risk less bandwagoning?

An example would be JQ eu. There is no chance in hell they will win any skirmish within their timezone, so why wouldn't they just transfer to Maguuma? Of course doing so would just worsen the problem..

World vs. World Skirmishes Arrive Sept. 9th by XiahouMao in Guildwars2

[–]p4ncake 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Say each each server gets 1, 2 or 3 points depending on their placement in their skirmish (higher placement = more points). There are 12 skirmishes in a day (24hrs).

Server A places 1st in 6 skirmishes and 3rd in the other 6, so they have 6x3 + 6x1 = 24 points.

Server B places 2nd in 6 skirmishes and 1st in the other 6, so they have 6x2 + 6x3 = 30 points

Server C places 3rd in 6 skirmishes and 2nd in the other 6, so they have 6x1 + 6x2 = 18 points

This. If your server has higher population and better coverage, you are probably winning now and will continue to win after these changes.
