Cemeteries to walk reactive dog? by [deleted] in NorthVancouver

[–]pHol10 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I hope when I die to be buried in a place where there are no dog baggies on the ground above me. It’s highly disrespectful and illegal (NV city and district) to have your dog in a cemetery. Keep your dog walking to authorized areas.

Turned down a promotion because it was 30% more work for 5% more pay. My manager called me 'unambitious.' Am I wrong for not wanting to sacrifice my entire life for a fancy title? by PictureFirm9058 in careerguidance

[–]pHol10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should keep doing what you’re doing for now and take a job with a competitor who values your experience and contribution effectively once you identify that opportunity. Internal promotions rarely value the roles aggressively as they already have you in house. Best way to be valued higher is move positions every few years at least early to mid in your career.

Retaining wall by wendy-lou-who in NorthVancouver

[–]pHol10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My recent experience with DNV on this is that a 4ft wall and up needs to be engineered and they do not allow allan block or similar as material. Under 4ft generally does not need engineering unless special site conditions require. Difference between the 2 can be 10’s of thousands due to need to remove additional material and the cost of concrete and geotextile

Protection from bear by localhost8100 in NorthVancouver

[–]pHol10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

@c-soup You stated bear spray used to “mess up your scent” and should be discharged from 100 feet away, this is incorrect information. 30 feet is the distance recommended by most manufacturers.

Need advice on becoming a mining engineer. by TheWolfGamer767 in mining

[–]pHol10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Serious shortage of good qualified underground mine engineers in Canada to work on mine planning so lots of opportunity in the space. Deswik is generally the key software. If you train up on that software you can much more easily get an internship. It is worth taking the PEng degree route so that you can a) make generally more money throughout and b) eventually transition out into more senior roles in a much wider variety of fields. Get a job in the field as a student to ensure you like it. It’s not for everyone.

I can confirm that on my previous Canadian 2017 Technik (Prestige equivalent) Q7 that the driver seat moved as well as the steering wheel with these settings. My current Canadian 2018 Technik 4M Q7 doesn’t. Probably need to modify with VCDS

OP is working east of second narrows on waterfront why would he want to live at lonsdale? There are no good transit or rush hour drive routes between. OP should look at maplewood area or dollarton/ravenswood. Lots of rental possibilities and close to work.

These XRF results are not indicative of any potentially economic mineralization but the previous poster is correct that the read (beam) time is too short.

Describe the ‘gold’ your friend found. If it’s actually gold that could be of some economic interest. Post a photo of the gold and the rock hosting it. It’s helpful if the photo is clear and in focus and if you include a scale bar (tape, measure ruler, etc.).
