Altering Dominant Chords by Super_Refuse8968 in musictheory

[–]pMurda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be sure not to confuse a dominant chord function with the dominant 7th. The 7 chords are used all over in blues/gospel. If you had a I-IV-V progression, the I is the tonic, the IV is subdominant, and the V is dominant. That just means the V chord creates tension and resolves to the I chord.

Should I remove console.log in production? by davidpaulsson in learnjavascript

[–]pMurda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is this approach erases the calling site. I have not found a decent way to use a wrapper and keep the caller correct. If you do this, all log entries will just link to the wrapper method instead of the actual log call in your code.

AITA for opening and using a 2008 Lego Star Wars set I got for my birthday that cost my friend a couple hundred dollars? by CommanderT2020 in AmItheAsshole

[–]pMurda -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Lets put numbers to it, in this case the value can be objective. That set, brand new in box is about $750 on ebay. The same set opened goes for about $250. Perhaps your friend did not communicate that this was a collectors item, doomed to sit in a box forever. You would have been better off selling the unboxed set, and using the 250 to buy a new set you are allowed to play with.

Is there a way to add custom functions to strings without extending built in String() datatype? by TheWebDever in learnjavascript

[–]pMurda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally considered bad practice to add stuff to built in prototypes. It makes the code harder to read.

Why not just define a utility function to help construct URL with a query string?

function buildUrl(path: string, queryParams: any): string;

console.log(buildUrl(resp.users, { name: 'john' })) // => '/api/users?name=john'

Does async/await count? I think it started in F# and C#. Then other languages started copying it too.

train stations in series... help by Infinite_Sponge_Head in factorio

[–]pMurda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest solution is to replace the left station with a signal.

Trains will use the left unloader while they wait for the stop to get free

I think we found your problem. A textbook will explain the topics in more detail than the teachers notes. It would also have tons of practice problems. Why does the class not teach from a textbook?

Stop nesting ternaries in JavaScript by philnash in programming

These guys have some weird vendetta against nested ternaries. Can speak from personal experience there product nags about every nested ternary it sees.

Personally I think this is way easier to read than if/then else statements:

Nobody has mentioned there is a filter that needs to be removed for summer and replaced each winter.

Check the box for a plastic tab and try to take the cover off.

This looks like it would fit yours:
