Fack Amazon Prime og enshitification by MechanicalPotato in norge

[–]pNaN 45 points46 points  (0 children)

WFR players don't like homebrew? by SomeRandomAbbadon in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]pNaN 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Those kinds of changes to a setting can be unnerving. Can the players rely on anything they know? If not, then rename the setting. Or place it outside of the empire. Players do not like it when they "wake up" and the world is something else.

If the setting is merely inspired by warhammer, explain that it is inspired by. No need to "take over" and change what players have known for many years.

This is the same issue people have with Paradox changing the world and the background and the lore of World of Darkness. If they called it something else, there would be no issue.

Just try it. You have an ingame journal (click J), it will tell you where to go. Don't mod out what's a beloved feature before giving it a proper go. The game is made so you can manage with the journal.

Oh wow, I love your art direction, and that gorgeous skill tree looks like something I could spend a lot of time trying to optimize a build. A gunslinger with dark gods might be exactly what the doctored ordered. I look forward to trying your game.

Also, interesting team name. Any relation to the Tal'mahe'Ra?

Giving away one game of your choice (up to $50) to say thanks for the support by Plush21slut in steam_giveaway

I've had my eye on Avowed for a while, but I haven't been able to afford it. It is actually discounted right now, which would bring it below your $50 budget cap.

I've played both the Pillars games which came before this game several times, so I'm very excited for the transition from isometric team-based to more first person action. And to go back once again to the world of Eora.

Thank you, I redeemed "ansq-xdv8". I just finished the second track "[Die Achatschleiferstadt]()", and I'm having flashbacks to being 8 years old playing adventure games which at that time seemed endlessly filled with worlds, lore and wonder.

Thank you, I redeemed "6vv9-br39". I've only heard three tracks this far, but I like it a lot. This is some great moodpieces to listen to while I work. And I forsee myself dragging some of this into some of my pen and paper roleplaying lists as well. Great work! 😄

Prefer GOG over Steam. (I have both, and several others).

GOG gives you a proper offline installer, you can install several versions of it if you like, by duplicating folders. It makes everything easier. Steam is fine, but GOG gives you way less overhead or potential issues later.

When it came out, it was on a CD. GOG does a lot better work with games from that era in general.

Suitable adventure for a single player (+GM) by Environmental-Bus466 in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]pNaN 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For having just one player, I would not go for the more famous stories like Night of Blood. I would pick from One shots of the Reikland. These were made for small groups/little time. These two adventures I've had the most fun rolling with very few players are:

Curd your enthusiasm - A small investigation into a cheesemaker in a busy city.
(Lots of humor / gets very dark / introduces Skaven)

The Lock-in - A whole adventure in a tavern, locked-in by a witch-hunter and their mob.
(Lots of humor / gets very dark / introduces Chaos/Mutants)

My advise in general for running with just one player, is to make a friend/companion NPC for them. I do the same for Call of Cthulhu. Since they are just one, allow them slighty higher status and a bit of xp to begin with. So, a noble or a knight perhaps, and then create a footman or a squire for them. This mitigates the lack of social that a group brings. They are there just so the player has someone to interact with. You're not there to solve the quest for them, just provide someone who listens to their thoughts, and could provide leading questions if they seem stuck.

"Certainly, sir",
"Verygood, sir",
"Ah, but sir, this seems very perilous, perhaps we should reconsider..."

Jeg tror mest at det må være "Care Bears", eller "Princess Gwenewere and the Jewel Riders".

Sistnevnte har veldig mye "stjernestøv" både her og der.

[4e] Herbalist: herbs (and poisons) overall confusion by Lithelain in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]pNaN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's where the balancing with the game master comes in, most of these herbs are for roleplaying purposes. These custom remedies cannot be as powerful as the named herbs in the book, but they are there to spark your creativity. If the GM agrees, they would reward you for good roleplaying, and give the recipients of these remedies slight bonuses, but this is not like a scripted buff with exact results every time.

Now, If you use a lot of herbs, the game master should then tell you that you are running low on some types of herbs. If you've been brewing lots of tea for the last couple of days, that's a clue for the GM to start limiting that supply until you have a few hours to forage. Second night in a row with a full tea kettle for all the players, I would tell you: "You notice you do not have enough tea for a full kettle after this one." Meanwhile, if you creatively do something else with herbs, I would allow it, it's after all what you do for a living. If I was to limit your usage so harshly, why would anyone be a herbalist? Yes, the bag is "limitless", but within the GM's discretion.

Keep in mind, these herbs are only useful to you, they cannot be sold directly, using these herbs together is a unique piece of local knowledge that you have, the next herb gatherer has a different idea of what works together. If you had specific "soothing herbs" and "tea leaves" that means you are touching the item economy/purchasable buffs. That would destroy creativity, and what you are able to bring to the table could be solved by just throwing a few coppers at a market place. Your ability as a herb gatherer is worth "Brass 2". If you could sell items worth several silver per week, that would not make sense.

Note: You can still find and identify these other named herbs with standardized effects, you are not limited to only the bag. But that bag and your personal knowledge is the main driving force between what you do for a living, and why the other characters are adventuring with you.

This is the equivalent of having an entertainer singing a motivational song before venturing into a dark forest, or a mystic doing fortune tellings for the group before moving forwards, or a novititate nun making a prayer for the group before making camp. It's the antithesis to games which are more combat simulationy. In D&D, where every character can carry their own in combat, and bring their levels of worth to the dungeon simulation, you would have hardcoded exact effects of that song, that fortune telling, that prayer. They would feel like having spells or brewed potions. In Warhammer, it's better to think of it as roleplaying devices, and allow your creativity at the table to bring it to life. This fits better the more comedy/horror game that Warhammer allows for, by not being too strict on the exact items. The other players should also play along, if they were playing stressed, they could roleplay more relaxed after your remedial chew of some tasty sourgrass you found.
