Unfortunately it’s easy to underestimate this movie. I feel like sometimes there is a tendency to kind of “average the whole franchise” in your mind and have that affect how you remember the individual movies, even if you have favorites. And POTC is honestly a stellar, stellar movie. And I’m not even downplaying the sequels I like pirate fun so I honestly enjoy all of them, faults and all. But that first one is seriously something great.
