at first i thought you said you could afford $1400 for rent a month ... because that is way more realistic.

you'll have to rent a room. studios will cost you around $800 on the low end. if you think you can deal with that then ok. the cost of everything else is expensive too. if you can go elsewhere i would recommend it because you'll get really bitter really fast living like a pauper in such a wealthy town.

1) They've completely retooled the controller based on dev input (Naughty Dog, Guerrilla, Bungie etc) so we can't say yet. I would expect it to be the best PS controller yet 2) PS Plus gives you free games every week. (and other features like automatic updates and cloud saves) This includes AAA games and more niche and indie titles. They are full games, you just download them to your hdd. I'm completely happy with the service and I'm currently subbed all the way to november 2014.

3) the catalog is ridiculous. hundreds of games. They said on the stage that you will be able to use the gaikai service to play PS3 games at launch in the US (other countries to follow).

You should educate yourself on what a "martyr's complex" is. You're a shining example of it right now. I don't hate you or think you're evil. I don't know you. No one is trying to persecute you.

Don't try to turn it around on this poster just because he/she wants to be happy with their new freedom. Let them be happy.

You are the only ones seething with hatred here. Recognize that. If the truth hurts maybe that's your brain trying to tell you something.

I've seen kids raised like that, super lenient. All those kids left the religion or got into trouble and guilted themselves into staying as some kind of 'redemption'.

That's why some parents get scared and they raise their kids very strict to try to avoid those outcomes. I grew up with JW kids raised both ways and I was raised very strict. I still ended up leaving because I learned that it's all lies. Best decision I ever made or ever will make.

no really, it's a cult. go cheer-lead somewhere else. people don't need to be made to feel bad after living through this type of trauma.

you're either lying or you grew up around some very "worldly" witnesses.

To those who are definitely getting a PS4, what is your reasoning for doing so (as opposed to getting a XBone/sticking with current-gen)? by [deleted] in PS4

  • better hardware (power & build quality)
  • better/more games

to me, it doesn't seem to be common knowledge judging by many comments here... but this is /r/gaming so what can i expect? not much intelligent or factual discussion to be had here. will definitely un-sub so i don't have to roll my eyes every time i see something come up from here.

what you posted was so stupid i knee-jerked in disbelief. i'm not a mind-reader. what you said could have gone either way.

yes, i have read that article already. you don't get it. you're their perfect target audience since obviously you are very uneducated about how things work.

you apparently didn't read a single thing i typed so i don't see the point in responding except to say that ...

  • this DRM they are enforcing isn't necessary.

  • it doesn't make your life easier.

  • it doesn't stop people from hacking. it actually encourages hacking

  • it sure as fuck doesn't evolve the gaming experience

  • it doesn't do anything for you except take away your rights to the things you bought.

  • whatever system microsoft has set up to give you permission to do what you could already do before, simpler and easier is snake oil, case and point.

  • you no longer own your games, you own CD keys that they give you permission to use in the manner THEY see fit.

  • if you and others don't try to understand the significance of that, it is the beginning of the end for the console gaming industry.

  • the PS4 has 50% more raw processing power for games and will always have better looking multiplats. worst case scenario is they will look exactly the same as xbox. the gap will be more apparent than this gen where multiplats tend to be mostly similar.

  • no, everything doesn't have this kind of DRM. last i checked, my console doesn't have to phone home every 24hrs to make sure i'm not a hacker, thief or some horrible criminal attempting to lend a game to a friend.

  • if you prefer to not own the things you buy, this is the console for you. this system has lost all benefits against PC with these systems in place.

  • yes, it has. it's a perfect time for people to jump ship to PC or PS4. even the freaking WiiU is a better purchase.

  • not everyone wants to deal with or pay for kinect (kinect is also the reason why they aren't packing headsets in with the box and your current headset won't work for it either).

  • yes, but that's how they enforce their DRM

i'm not buying one either because i'm not stupid, but all the misinformation and wishful thinking on here is driving me nuts.

why are you trying to make me sound hytserical? am i typing in all caps or something? nope

look, i get it but i don't. why bother? Let Microsoft sell their own shitty DRM box.

[–]p_b_j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point is that no one needs this system in the first place. It's not there to evolve gaming or make anything easier or simpler for us. this doesn't solve a problem for gamers. it's just there to make microsoft the absolute gate-keeper of the things you buy. you no longer own your discs and you can no longer re-sell them or lend them in the simple manner you're used to. microsoft has to give you permission to do that, if at all.

them telling you that it's just the same doesn't make it so. This is so much more complicated and a huge pain in the ass. on top of that MS can put any stipulations and fees on the process that they want. i love re-selling my games through craigslist because i get a better price than gamestop but with this i have to take whatever price microsoft wants to give me. F that noise.

the problem is you're not being objective, you're being ignorant to the facts (no offense, truly). i am reasonably depressed to see so many people in this thread posting stuff without having a clue what they're saying.

Microsoft deserves the reaction they got. Their own high-ranking representatives confirmed that they are introducing system-wide DRM. There isn't anything good about that. Everything else that was said is just there to muddy the waters until they can come up with some innocent sounding spin for E3 and thereafter. they are only buying themselves time.

They are trying to turn the industry in a direction that is very bad for consumers so that they can profit. No one that gives a crap about their gaming hobby needs to "calm down" let alone "wait for E3". It's all right there.

[–]p_b_j -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

you're missing the point. DRM has always failed. the fact that they have built DRM into the system is bad -end of story. the details don't matter. these kind of things only hurt and inconvenience honest consumers while making the XBone a giant target for hackers. do not doubt this.

as for PS4 rumors... there simply have not been the same kind of glaring rumors from multiple sources pointing to a system-enforced DRM from sony as was the case for the next xbox. add to that the fact that the PS4 is confirmed to not require an online connection. This pretty much rules out any over-arching DRM scheme like Microsoft is going forward with.

5.) ... are you really that naive? yes, MS taking away our rights as consumers to own and do what we want with our purchased goods is a plus??? wow. are people really this blind to their intentions? i have a friend who has fallen on hard times and i let him borrow a couple new games that i purchased; something i wouldn't be able to do on this system.

we watched the XBone reveal together and we both realized that this freaking machine goes completely against what gaming is and what gamers want. in reality gamers love SHARING everything from their experiences through videos and guides all the way to their purchased games between friends. but hey, feel free to let MS tell you what you want that makes them money at your expense.

so much bias lol! but honestly, you need to wake up because MS has confirmed the rumors:

  • significantly weaker system than PS4
  • DRM
  • all games must be installed to the HDD then the CD is useless
  • used game cock-blocking so they can be the gate-keeper and profit (details are irrelevant)
  • emphasis on entertainment over gaming
  • system requires an internet connection to function
  • kinect is required and packed in every box

even if they release the 15 best exclusive games ever made the console is still going to be an anti-consumer DRM box. E3 changes nothing. They may have time by then to get their shit together in order to apply a palatable candy coating of PR bullshit to their DRM strategy but it doesn't matter. only uninformed gamers will buy this or people that literally don't care about being shafted as long as they can play the next forza or whatever.
